What's the Greatest Generation doing? (Vanity)

What is our "Greatest Generation" doing? Why are the people that lived through WWII, who saw the terrible effects of tyranny and despotism and Stalinism and ignorance and apathy, so blithely swallowing so much BS?

BS like the years of lies from Democrats, AARP, ACLU and the mainstream media. BS like the Godless perversion, violence and dumbing-down in our public schools, and doping-up millions of supposedly ADHD kids. BS like the 60's. BS like gay marriage, gay clergy and easy-access smut 24/7. BS like Republicans will ruin Social Security, Medicare, etc. BS like Schiavo's tube pulling. BS like the Clintons.

My parents make me wonder: Why aren't they mad as hell about where America has ended up? How can they think this is good for our children? What has made them socialist at heart now? Why do they get duped so easily? Why are they so silent about what is hurting them, their country and their offspring? I'd like to understand, but they get immediately defensive when asked to justify a position.

So, has the Greatest Generation gone senile, or have they been taken, know it, and are embarassed about it?

My Grandfather served in WWII in the Navy. I was sad when cancer took him in January of 2001. But, I am glad he did not see 9/11/01. I am glad he did not see the country he loved and fought for get attacked.

The greatest generation needs to follow Reagan's advice when it comes to prescription drugs: Just say no. The so-called greatest generation voted for FDR in overwhelming numbers. I am not sure they deserve the credit that we are supposed to give them.

What do you want them to do? Take up arms again and storm Captiol Hill?

You want 70-90 year old vets in walkers and wheelchairs to start shooting the place up until abortion is outlawed and homosexuals put in re-education camps? You want them to arrest every Democrat and strip them of citizenship?

Get a grip. They've done their part, they saved the world. NOW it falls to succeeding generations to preserve the Republic.

I'm glad my grandparents did not live to see the demise of the country they knew and loved as well. I think this "greatest Generation" crap is just a brain fart of Tom Brokaw and friends. The REAL greatest generation fought in WWI and managed WWII. The so called "Tom Brokaw greatest generation" fought in WWII and managed the Vietnam War which should be their real legacy.

I am guessing the later. I attempted to inform my own father of some facts before he died. I don't know if he even understood. A whole generation meekly going with the flow. There is hardly any dissent, ever. Running from the FDR "New Deal" era, right on through WWII, creation of the U.N., Korea, Viet Nam, and on and on. Sad and extremely frustrating.
