HOUR 1 - Series Premiere 9pm 2005-04-13 ALL NEW!

COULD THE END OF DAYS BE NEAR? -- From executive producer Gavin Polone ("Panic Room") and writer/creator David Seltzer ("The Omen") comes "Revelations," a six-hour event series starring Bill Pullman ("Independence Day") as Harvard professor Dr. Richard Massey, an astrophysicist who is certain that all worldly events can be explained by Science. In the series premiere, Dr. Massey is dealing with the tragic murder of his 12-year-old daughter by a maniacal murderer, Isaiah Haden (Michael Massee, "24"), who was captured and imprisoned. After a strange course of events, Massey is challenged by a nun, Sister Josepha Montafiore (Natascha McElhone, "Solaris"), who leads him on a journey through the unfamiliar world of faith. Drawn together by personal tragedy, these unlikely partners -- one who worships God and one who worships Science -- are propelled into a deepening mystery, finding evidence that the world, as predicted by The Book of Revelation, has reached The End of Days. Also starring, Chelsey and Brittney Coyle, Tobin Bell and John Rhys-Davies. TV-14

The first I heard about this movie was today. Michael Medved recomended it so it should be good.

I heard about it on Medved, too. Unfortunately, I have no TV.

Here's a dumb question: is there any place to watch a live feed of an NBC affiliate streaming over the web? That's the only way I could watch it.

I guess everyone ignores the fact that revlations was written WRT the roman empire and the language was allegorical to avoid detection by the romans.

Everyoone loves their doomsday fantasies.

Great point about Revelation and the Roman Empire. Also, it seems odd that a Catholic nun is pursuing what are, I've been told, non-Catholic beliefs about the "end times". But what do I know? ;) (see tagline)

I happen to enjoy doomsday stories because they make for interesting drama, if done well, and interesting art--Bruce Pennington's book of paintings from the 70's being my favorite example. But these kind of end times fantasies ala "Left Behind" and such, don't do a thing for me. I think it's a kind of control fantasy, about wiping away all the "bad" stuff instead of having to grapple with people who live on the same planet but don't think like you do.

I just heard about it this a.m., too. I must have just missed Michael talking about it, because when I tuned in to him, he was talking about gays again. So I shut him off.

Thanks for telling us about his view on it. That's what I wanted to know.

I watched the first 15 minutes of it and came outside for the fresh air, with the wireless headphones on. I set my Tivo for it earlier today for all 6 hours. Hope it stays interesting.

I guess everyone might ignor the fact that this is the most ignorant statement they've ever read, but I won't.

Does anyone happen to know the name of the song used in the previews for Revelations?

Thank you all very much.

"I guess everyone might ignor the fact that this is the most ignorant statement they've ever read, but I won't."

It's called the preterist interpretation of revalations. Look it up, ignorant one.

One of my major and few pet peeves in life:

Calling the last book in the Bible "Revelations", instead of "Revelation". No "S"

Like I said, a small, but major pet peeve.

I rather agree that it's at best a rather . . . uninformed or . . . unregistering statement--at odds, to me, with The Bible as well as with history and current reality.

But for many folks hereon, it's a list of assumptions and disortions of Bible prophecy and historical fact which they consider part and parcel of The Gospel, seemingly.
