I agree with my friend, onyx. You will be missed, Long Cut. Although I fully understand why you and several others have left recently, voices such as yours (and ours) must not be driven out of "the public square" that is the internet and forums like FR.

That line was trundled out fairly often once upon a time. It has kind of died on the vine. :)

There have been times when it became kind of ugly around here before, and I took a break. But, I never bothered putting up a post saying I was going away, because, frankly, I doubt anyone would care or even notice if I didn't post.

Gotta tell ya son, I've been back for only a week or so, and it is clear that this place has changed. You know my email address; USE IT.
I think it is the result of the elections, and all of us having no one in common to attack or defend. We seem to have turned on each other with every ounce of zeal we once had towards the Democrats and John Kerry.
So for you and me, this aint goodbye, just another road. Continue to kick ass and take names at your job. You do me proud.

Sorry, you're Long Cut...and not allowed to leave.
To hell with "the majority" as you see it. This changes, and they hopefully wise up, then others join in, and it starts all over again....but that graduating class is somewhere...making things better...because, well, because of you and folks you mentioned, and countless others..."iron sharpened iron."
You really don't want Muttly to follow you...do you?
Didn't think so.
Me wouldn't either.

Torie,
The thing is, you debate in a level-headed, reasonable manner. So, you probably find that you are generally treated with respect by those with whom you disagree. Now, I personally don't know this particular poster, as FR is so big nowadays that there are people you just don't run into much. So, I don't know if he's gotten a lot of grief lately, or has given others the same in the past.
But, at least one of the others who have recently opused was not exactly among the most, err, well-mannered, members, at least in certain topics and threads.
I probably go over the line sometimes, but I make a particular effort to try not to get too personal.
