Also I'm evil and not a huge cat fan. One's just fine. But we're going to be cramped for space for a while, anyway. And the apartment complex loves an excuse to kick you out without giving back your deposit.

On a related but separate subject, if anyone has traveled long distance with a cat and can give me any tips, I'd appreciate it! I'm planning on booking our hotel for each night ahead of time so I can be sure I won't get turned away...again, most places only allow one pet, except possibly the bed and breakfast type places, which are out of my budget. And we make fairly frequent stops.

Tam is a good traveler, but at this point he's not done anything like this kind of a trip!

Wish I had a good picture of him as well. I do have this one of him with Halvah...

Can you put him on a leash so that he can at least walk around at rest stops?

Also to consider, they make travel drugs. Talk to your vet.

Have you gotten any offers yet? I sure hope you do!

Do you think they'd have to remain indoor kitties, even in a country situation where the road wasn't such a huge threat?

Yeah, he's used a leash before. We'd probably do that.

Wellll...even then I'd prefer it. Remember, I grew up in the boonies. Our cats were indoor/outdoor, and none lived to die of old age. Not a one. There are predators out there every bit as dangerous as traffic every could be.

Indoor cats tend to live longer, healthier lives. I know that's not always a popular view, but...

Seriesly, they make tranquilizers for pets to travel.

OT - Didn't you have to drug Miss Kitty?

I wonder how that would work for a multiday trip is all.

But it's certainly worth asking the vet!

I understand the point of view... I've had a few disappear without a sign or a clue... and most of the cats I've ever had appeared out of the blue... they came from ~somewhere~ else who never knew what happened.

It just wouldn't work for me to have an indoor kitty... when it's nice out, I leave the door standing wide open. Old blind fat cat I have now doesn't leave the compound anyhow, so for him it's not a risk... my kitty Seven was a wanderer, and I don't know what happened to him.
