~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XVI~
November 6, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

The Early Morning

The moon on the one hand, the dawn on the other:
The moon is my sister, the dawn is my brother.
The moon on my left and the dawn on my right.
My brother, good morning: my sister, good night.

Well, be careful, Dark, it's coming down fast and furious. The ground is covered here in the city.

Sunwink

I’ve always loved the sunset,
A bow upon the day,
That’s been wrapped up in lovingness,
All set to put away.

To place among the memories,
Of happy days gone by,
For times when things don’t go so well,
On days that make you cry.

A sunrise is as lovely,
But colder in its way,
More distant in the joyfulness,
That happens every day.

Though lens can’t separate them,
The difference is this,
The sunrise is a promise,
And sunset is a kiss.

Good morning, Sam!!

Wonderful graphic and poem this morning. The early morning is the best part of the day. I used to have to be up early to get to work and so enjoyed watching the sun come up.

Thank for coffee, poetry and tunes.

Hope all is well for your business.

Oh boy, are we!!! It's a huge storm that will hit many states in the Northeast.

I have no plans to go out today.

Before Servus Interuptus

Those that be proud, preening, primpers,
Heel and toe, then quickly whimpers
Fading betwixt the light and dark
Spot of Yellow, bleak and stark.
Hidden in desire.
.

Suddenly, among the pair the Lion
appears, strong, aware. The breath comes short.
Pulses rushing. Comes Silent,
Sprigs of Lilac. Waft the air bringing
Pain and Pleasure.

Leave me still. Leave me not
Beside our Mounting Stream.
Without measure, no lack of Trust
Tales will come again.
The Fire Being eternal.

Proudly the lioness appears
wings to fly, and tears to dry
it was not meant for her to see
the loveliness of the dragon fly
born to live - but a day
in quick response she took her flight
and loved the dragon fly by night

Ever searching for his trail
blazing in the dark
in the heavens filled with bright
in the stars he lives and shines for her
and preens his love for her to see
blinking only briefly at dawns light

For 'twas the mountain calling her
reaching out from the fog of twilight
and from dusk to dawn he haunts her heart
they are one - there is no part.

Kisses in Twilight

The dragonfly so deftly seems to hover in its flight,
And haunts the dusky twilight without dread of coming night.
It searches out a flower and inspects it for perfection,
And then it stamps approval with the lightest genuflection.

Approaching with a silent tread to perform a quiet duty,
It touches down upon the fragile thing of evanescent beauty.
Respectfully, it nears and then descends upon the tip,
With half-a-dozen kisses on the powder-covered lip.
