A CA Weekend Road Trip, Bush vs. Kerry
Alex P. Keaton 04 | 10/18/04

Just wanted to let everyone know about my weekend Road Trip with my buddy to San Francisco for my friend's wedding. I knew going back to my home town of Frisco it would be a Barf-o-Rama, and I was correct. Lets begin with the great bumper stickers currently on display in SF. The always popular "Buck Fush", "More Trees,Less Bush" (I got a laugh out of that one). "Vote for Peace and Vote Bush Out", and then the slobber fest for Kerry. "Kerry/Edwards 04", "John Kerry", "Kerry A Stronger America". As I walked into Gordo's on 9th and Irving St. (Great burritos by the way) There was a huge Kerry/Edwards stand with buttons and stickers, my friend was gonna grab some to throw but he decided against it. What this shows me people is that there is alot of fear from Republicans to setup shop in SF for fear of vandalism. This is a huge reason Libs have a stronghold on the City by the Bay. I was shocked at the lack of support for the President out there. Now for the good news. We hopped on I80 towards Sacramento to visit my friend's Mom and once we passed Berkley Kerry/Edwards was quickly dissapearing. W'04 stickers slowly started showing up, Bush/Cheney 04 stickers were appearing. Keep in mind this is just Minutes away from the Bay Area. As we got past Pinole close to UC Davis there were 6ftx4th Yard signs off the side of the freeway for Bush/Cheney 04. Bush/Cheney stickers were now out weighing Kerry 5 to 1. As we approached the I5 past Sacramento Bush/Cheney signs were being seen even more frequently. Someone even went as far as to tie a huge Tarp Banner of Bush/Cheney 04 to an Electrical Tower off the I5 freeway. That was really big. Now cruising South back to Anaheim stickers of "Offroaders For Bush" "I stand with President Bush", "W'04" and the best one a man painted on the back window of his Van "Flush the Johns on Nov. 2nd" LOL. At this point Bush ads and Stickers were 10 to 1 over Kerry/Edwards crap. I am not exagerating these stats people. Ever since I was able to vote in an Election I have never seen this much passion over 2 different canidates, especially here in CA. I honestly believe that if we can stand up and release the grip that Hollywood and San Francisco have on liberals the tides will surely turn back to Red. The numbers in these to cities last time around locked up CA for Gore with ease. Bush won about 18 more counties in CA than Gore did in 2000. Keep that in Mind.

The most inept anti-Bush bumper sticker I've seen yet is "Defend America, Defeat Bush" -- the first thought that came to my mind is that this must be a Kerry supporter because they flip-flop halfway through a bumper sticker!

If San Francisco didn't exist, even with LA California would at least be a Dem-leaning swing state like Michigan or PA.

Someone who works in my building has that sticker on their car. And they always park next to my car with my Bush/Cheney '04 sticker...hehehe

Here in Santa Barbara, we see the same anti-Bush stickers that you saw in SF. However, old Kucinich stickers outnumber Kerry-Edwards 2004. Bush '04 signs are common on US 101 north of Santa Barbara.

The one I see around Santa Cruz a lot is really offensive. It says: "Abort Bush." Typical of Santa Cruz.

These data support Rush's thesis that anti-Bush voters greatly exceed pro-Kerry.

Yup. It's the anybody-but-Bush crowd around here. I think a lot of them are voting for Nader. heheh.

Hey, I used to live at the San Marcos Trout Club up in the SB mountains. Cute little cabin.

Has anyone ever met a pro-Kerry voter? When questioned they tell you what is wrong with GWB, never what is good about Kerry.

The Trout Club is in a cool canyon with a permanent stream. That would be a great place to live if you can tolerate the traffic on 154 (San Marcos Pass for those in Rio Linda.)

"Defend America, Defeat Bush"

I see that one a lot. I also see a lot of "Re-Defeat Bush" and a few "Regime Change - Nov. 2" stickers.

It WAS a very cool place to live. Great view. We were far enough away from 154 to not notice it.
