It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I am tired of politics and my ulcer. I'd like to have some fun talking dogs.
Topic of the day is: funny , touching or embarrassing dog stories.
Solly was 5 months old and I had worked with her for some time , her problem was forging. We tried every trick that I knew including a choker collar. She didn't care if she strangled herself. I bought a Halti and she did very well with it.
On the first night of class, We showed up with her Halti on. The instructor came over and said "we don't use those". She put a choker chain on Solitare. I told her that we had already failed with that method. Her response, "We'll see."
Solitare is a big play baby and the sight of all those other playmates was about more than she could stand. The fru-fru poodle lady had to go to the other side of the room so she didn't have to stand by my unruly dog.
We walked and stopped, at least that was what was supposed to happen. Solly drug me around the rink sounding like she was going to strangle.
This went on for 30 minutes. The instructor came over to show me how to handle my dog. How to pop the collar just right. Solitare nearly pulled her off of her feet.
Around the ring one more time and Solitare cut loose with an elephant dropping right there infront of everyone. I was prepared with my doggie bag and paper towels. I was actually grateful to be facing the floor because I am sure my face was crimson. I literally choked the s--t out of her.
The instructor came over and whispered that I might want to switch to the Halti. I knew that before we started.
8 weeks later, Solitare was granted the honor of the most improved dog and graduated with acclaim.

My Mac (a golden)was one of the best ever! When he got sick and needed chemo and was dying of a slow progressive cancer I was falling apart. I got a book that said I should have two dogs....so I went and got Clancy thinking this would make Mac feel better. BIG MISTAKE...he was too sick and too elderly to take a small puppy. However, you don't take the puppy back to the adoption agency...so there were some good times but there was that one night that Mac had had enough and let Clancy have it....one little nick to his nose. After Mac died I got Oliver...the two boys love and adore each other. Every time I look at Clancy there is that "little nick" on his nose where the hair never grew back...just as a reminder that Mac still rules. The idea of going through life without a dog is definetly not an option for me.

I made the mistake of trying 2 puppies at the same time after the loss of my Black Lab Brittany. At least it was a mistake for about the first 4 months. Now that they are pushing a year old , it seems like a fine idea.
They are in a constant tussle playing but they love each other as well.
Jackie is smaller and a little timid. When they get a treat she has to run and then lay down right along her sister.
When they aren't pulling each other around by the ears , they are busy grooming each others ears.
Solitare is so big that Jackie's whole head fits in her mouth.
You must love or have loved a very special dog to have collected them.
I have been owned by several great dogs.
Not to go back to politics and upset the ulcer...I keep asking if anyone knows if Kerry has a dog? My feeling is he does not!
I believe that "bridge" that is referred to is called "Rainbow's Bridge".

My dogs own me and my house.
I am really growing to love my puppies but I did have one of the worlds all time good dogs for 14 years. I lost her last year Thanksgiving weekend . I could no more get over her than I could get over losing a child.
I am really enjoying the pups and now that they are growing up they are delightful most of the time.
I can tell you emphatically...there is NO GOLDEN ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH THAT WOULD EVER ....EVER BE PART OF THAT FAMILY!

My favorite toy collie, Bacchus acquired me when she was only weeks old. Being a puppy, I'd doubts that she and my sister's cat, Blitzen. Who was about a year old, would get along.
There were territorial arguments for around two months. Noisy. Mostly fruitless and (discounting toppled vases and spilled drinks) non-violent.
Soon, detente was reached and the two got along. Until Blitzen started snooping out quiet, secluded places.
In July, Blitzen dropped a litter of five kittens under the kitchen porch. With Bacchus standing guard. Making sure Blitzen and her kindle were not bothered by prying eyes.
The kittens grew and watched their mother and Bacchus play. With Blitzen's signature, claws reatracted swat to Bacchus's nose to let her know that she'd had enough fun.
One day the furry family was in the living room. And Omar, one of the more prococious of the litter decided to rear up on his hind legs and swat Bacchus's nose.
My girl took the blow silently. Beads of blood on her snout. And planted Omar flat onto the floor with her right paw. Splaying Omar's legs and paws.
As if to say:
"Just because your mother can do it. Doesn't meant that you can!"
