Halliburton's division Kellogg, Brown & Root has a long history of no-bid contracts with the government, but much more important, it was Brown & Root that made plenty of money during the Johnson Administration.

Few people ever comment that Brown & Root, which became Kellogg, Brown & Root, received "cost-plus" contracts from the JOHNSON Administration. This meant that Brown & Root could get the right to do business with the federal government with no concern about costs, since the more they could run up costs, the higher their profit--which was tacked on when the job was done. I think anyone who can do the research will find some very interesting stuff to bring up during the next few weeks while the press is attacking Cheney for supposedly being the perpetrator of contracts with the federal government that were friendly to Halliburton. There all kinds of reasons for these deals, but the Democrat link to all this is quite interesting if anyone can go back that far to see how cozy the Johnson Administration was with Mr. Brown and Mr. Root of Brown & Root.
