Stop Blaming Men For The Marriage Crisis
https://www.highly-respected.com ^ | APR 09, 2024 | SCOTT GREER

Charlie Kirk upset a lot of women last week. In a discussion on unmarried women preferring Democrats, he said that ladies in their 30s are past their prime and struggle to find a husband.

This is obviously true, but impolite to say. Kirk’s statement naturally inspired outrage among liberals, as well as among conservatives. That shouldn’t surprise anyone. Kirk’s opinion runs counter to the prevailing conservative narrative about the decline of marriage. Conservatives say it’s all men’s fault and we need to do more to shame males into stepping up.

But this male-focused answer isn’t correct. It’s true that men are falling behind in society and leaving college-educated women with fewer options. But that’s not because men are refusing to put down the video games and go to trade school. Rather, it’s because of social transformations that deprioritize men and traditional masculinity. Our economy is now centered around the service and information sectors, both of which are female dominated. More women go to college and graduate school than men. Male wages are in decline and more men than women report zero dating prospects. Women, in contrast, are the big winners of our new society. Many of them now think they have infinite choice when it comes to their life and relationships. This better explains the marriage crisis than men’s love of video games.

"Women aren’t known for their decision-making abilities, and thus they struggle in picking a suitable husband."

In my best Johnny Carson voice: "I did not know that."

My daughter ( of marriage age) has stated there is nothing, absolutely nothing in her age group suitable for marriage. She has turned to “ hunting” older males, but most all have been divorced…..who wants to buy ” damaged goods”?

The same can be said for males looking for a wife….

I would have been happy to have married much earlier than I did (age 34). A number of the ladies who declined my approaches never married and are now in their late middle age. I remember one in particular whose grandmother wrote her telling her that she would never find another fellow like me. She meant that in a positive way. To my knowledge, she remains unmarried. One would-be girlfriend sent a get caught up e-mail me long after our time in college. After I described my family, the e-mails stopped.

Now, I might not have been the right man for any of them; I do not know. They were all lovely women as far as I know, and I wish them the best. I never did hit it big, and I do not have the best table manners. But, as my prescient father-in-law told my future bride “You’ll never be rich, but you’ll never be bored.”

I have female relatives in their 30's. not a one of them would I marry. They all rate themselves 8. I didnt ask what you did 15 minutes ago.

Most think of themselves first and foremost. their Husbands are a distant 3rd behind their obnoxious kids who deserve a good paddle on the behind.

American woman ,get away from me, american woman, momma let me be. dont want you hanging around my door, I dont want to see your face no more.....

otoh have you noticed an uptick in females assaulting more people or committing more heinous murders and torturing more children?

If women were stellar decision makers, we wouldn’t be in the throes of an election being based on all abortion, all the time, any reason.

After I divorced my first wife, we’ll call her “Satan”, I found an incredibly hot, masters degree educated clinician and six months later we were married. I was 53, she was 52. Approaching 4 years later, I couldn’t be happier. It CAN happen.

Well...I guess the big “winner” in all of this is cats. I guess this is what society gets for degrading men and masculinity in so many ways. LOL.

Men are responsible for the marriage crisis?

I guess it depends what aspects of this people are talking about. I’ve often heard that women are reluctant to get married, because we now live in a world where women can be astronauts and have any exciting career that men can have, and that marriage would interfere with that.

It seems that nowadays , neither men or women see marriage and family as important life goals.

“Conservatives say it’s all men’s fault and we need to do more to shame males into stepping up”

I am not sure I have seen much evidence of this, conservatives generally blame women for this, liberals blame men.

We sent our Son to a small, Christian high school.

None of the girls in his class would have anything to do with the boys in his class.

The boys were not potential husbands to the girls, they were merely competition.

A really unhealthy atmosphere that was encouraged by the parents of the girls.

Yeah, the number of video game playing, porn addicted men out there to match up with blue haired, godless Karens should have saved this country from its moral decay…s/

Nothing in this country will change until people turn back to God.

I can’t help but wonder how many of these women actually want to be “help meets.” I don’t blame any man for staying away from women who need to be pandered to much of the time. I see the daughters of many friends....these brilliant liberated women who have made men the butt of their jokes for years, are now wondering why they’re late 30’s+ and have no husbands, no children, several cats and boxed wine. Enjoy your careers, ladies.....oh, and by the way, it’s still just a “job.”

When the women quit giving it away for free, men will have more incentive to marry.

My oldest is in the same boat. Try finding a christian to marry or someone with maturity. Good luck! The last twenty plus years of America’s moral decline has destroyed our youth. I truly feel sorry for younger generation.
