Biden's America: A visit to the Post Office
Vanity | March 6, 2024 | Anonymous

A paid a visit to the local Post Office today. At the counter, I was told that the branch had no postage stamps available for purchase.

None, nada, zero.

How is this possible?

So the postal clerks sat at the counter all day and did virtually no work while on the clock.

Evidently they ought to have to learn to code.

I once wanted to get a job at the post office.

But I was not black nor a veteran.

I’ve never experienced this, but for years now I’ve usually bought stamps by mail. They don’t even charge shipping if you choose the 3 to 5 day option.

Had a package take 36 hours to wander seventy miles down the road in rural Georgia yesterday...

At another Post Office, following the Presidents Day holiday, no postal clerks bothered to show up for work. While the building was open, there were no postal employees present to serve customers.

Much of bloated American government is just another form of welfare, and progressive-woke political-machine operation

Its getting super-expensive to support this bloated machine, with $2-3 Trillion budget deficits per year

Its also why we must be at war everywhere around the world, to support the dollar and keep this debt (and hence the machine) from crashing

I also find this strange but in this case it is not Biden’s fault or responsibility. The postal service is one of the few government agency created in the Constitutional. If anyone if responsible it would be the post master for that post office.

They’ve raised it twice since it was .63.

During the Christmas rush Amazon stopped delivering to your home as usual. They would use USPS where I live. And USPS would not deliver either. You had to go to the Post Office.

The line of customers lining up to get their packages was terrible. Waits of 30-45 minutes were normal.

There were only two Amazon lockers nearby. If your package was too big, forget it. It went to the post office.

Sounds about right. I sent a Certified letter (with green form and green Return postcard) to California from NH in Feb.

Guess what.... the entire letter, unopened, with the green postcard still attached, just got returned to me here in my mailbox, NH this week...... WTH?!??

I had the highest test score but the postmaster said he would never hire a female. At least he was honest giving the heads up it would have been a terrible place to work. That was around 1980.

I then was hired at the State Park but HQ in Austin said they had to hire a black. There were very few blacks in the county so that job posting remained empty for years and I imagine they finally just closed it out and started over. .

That’s the beauty of the “forever stamp”: you never know just how much it costs.

The local Post Offices have a vending machine that sells stamps.

Fwiw, WalMart also sells postage stamps at their CustomerService counter.

Our local post office is incompetent. I go further away to another small town if I have to go to the post office.

Never send certified mail. Unless you don’t care if it gets delivered or not.

If you must send anything that must be delivered, spend the extra money and have it Fed Exed or UPS’d

Stamps cause global warming. It’s better for the environment to deliver your letters yourself.
