Barbra Streisand’s film company pocketed $200K in small business pandemic cash — and used it to pay gardener at her $20M mansion

The multimillionaire star’s Barwood Films Ltd. received loans from the Paycheck Protection Program in 2020 and 2021 — then had them written off by the federal government.

Among the workers paid through Barwood Films in 2020 and 2021 was a groundskeeper responsible for the gardens at her $20 million Malibu clifftop home — where the business is registered — and an “executive support” employee.

Her spokesman claimed Streisand’s gardener had not been paid with taxpayer funds. The Post has confirmed that the groundskeeper was employed by Barwood Films when it took public money to make payroll.

Same people they say they want higher taxes on the rich (themselves) and they’d be happy to pay more...but they don’t and never do.

This looks bad but you know what? Our government made it legal. Accountants saw a way for free money and no accountant in teir right mind would turn down what is essentially free legal cash from the government.

When I was a young libertarian inspired by Ayn Rand, I passionately defended the rich from higher taxes.

Today, I don't particularly support taxing the rich. But neither am I so passionate in my opposition to it.

I do not think that most freepers would have refused the cash if they ran a business during the covid fiasco... not passing judgement, just stating what seems obvious.

When I got those small covid relief checks I was not desperate for the money... but I cashed the checks.

I won’t condemn Streisand for doing the same thing, just in a bigger way. I don’t care for hypocrites and don’t want to be one.

Sometimes a truth does not make you happy... but you should still face it.. most of us would take the cash in the same situation.

I would support taxing the rich, if it actually hurt the rich.

Unfortunately, most times it just ends up hurting the middle class.

I see what you did there. My brother did a high school skit with students dressed as cannibals:

People, people who eat people
Are the hungriest people in the world...

“I would support taxing the rich, if it actually hurt the rich.”

They already are. According to the Tax Foundtion in 2023 the top 1% are paying 42.3% of all taxes being collected.

Why do you want to hurt the rich? Their companies and investments provide the jobs that offer people the opportuinty to prosper and survive the way they want to or give themselves an opportunity to.

This misnomer that rich people are horders and separationists is very unknowledgeable. Rich people already have money, or assets, they want more. And to do that they can’t do it by themselves.

This pisses me off so much. Multi millionaire and connected corporations got trillions while myself, self employed small business, had the commies shut my entire industry down and got nothing. And now, with no recovery in the industries I was in, I get to watch millions of illegals walk right in and get taken care of in luxury hotels having never paid a dime in to the system.

Because these days most billionaires are anti-American scum.

The Republicans may be the party of millionaires, but the Democrats are the party of billionaires.
