I joined the Army in 1981 during a recession still recovering from the Carter mismanagement. I found the place I was supposed to be, even doing beyond expert on a range hitting others 300 meter targets after hitting my own using up surplus ammunition, and rescuing people from a CS gas situation while breathing that crap after putting my own mask on a suffering fellow. It’s amazing what you can do with tears and snot flowing out of you.
Unrecognized and I was too humble to bring it up, thinking most others would do the same under such duress. Fortunately the VA has done a fantastic job rebuilding me as much as they can with no financial costs (about half a million from my rough estimates) that would bury the average citizen with debts they couldn’t possibly cover.
So I’m still working thanks to all the operations while technically disabled (a good parking place, Yay!) but am a modern Harpo Marx using a tech writing board to convey concepts too hard to mime. And we all know...

I don’t think it will. Too many eligible candidates have fathers or uncles who were in the army and are warning them to stay away. Southern white men, especially around the renamed army bases are hearing the message loud and clear. “This ain’t your daddy’s army and thus the shortfall in enlistments.
They’re voting alright, with both the ballot and their feet.

I think several doctors have developed treatment to cleanse the debrit from the blood vessels, using some blood thinners and other meds.
Not sure how wide spread, but it shows promise. If in fact reverse transcription is in volved, it is possible (not proven) for that process to actually change your DNA. Not good.
