Dinesh D'Souza's 'Police State' - You Will Not Look at Government the Same Way After Seeing This Film
Red State ^ | 10/24/2023 | Becky Noble

A typical American family sits at the breakfast table, starting their day. Suddenly, there are huge thuds at the front door, sounds of men yelling, "FBI! Open the door!" They break the door down, rush into the kitchen, and grab the father. They wrestle handcuffs on him as his wife and children scream and cry in terror.

As this is happening, other uniformed agents rifle through the family's belongings and papers throughout the house. The father is led out the front doorway of his house (on purpose, as we learn later in the movie) and into a waiting black unmarked SUV. It is unknown what crime this man has committed.

Audiences Give Standing Ovation, Sing The National Anthem After Watching New Film 'Police State'

https://t.co/zRxZ9l2Nb5— Dinesh D'Souza (@DineshDSouza) October 24, 2023

This is the opening scene from the new movie "Police State" from conservative commentator, author, and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza. For anyone who has seen D'Souza's other films, you have come to expect deep dives into political issues, and those who disagree with D'Souza politically attempt to downplay it as just another "right-wing conspiracy theory." But as Dinesh D'Souza has proven time and time again, if it is all just nothing but tin foil hat conspiracies, why are they so worried?

My husband and I went to see this movie on Monday night. I was encouraged by the fact that almost every seat in the theatre was filled — more people to get the word out. D'Souza is joined in the general narration of the film by fellow conservative commentator Dan Bongino. As a former New York City police officer and later as a Secret Service agent during the Bush 43 and Obama administrations, Bongino's experience lends much credibility to the many examples of how government agencies, like the FBI, whose chief duties have traditionally been law enforcement, have now become heavily involved in domestic surveillance. The movie asks the essential question of how we got here, and maybe even more importantly, who is responsible for it? D'Souza asks Bongino, "Is America becoming a police state?"

The movie takes us back to 1992 and the FBI standoff and raid at Ruby Ridge. While Randy Weaver had sold weapons to an undercover ATF agent, the agent wanted Weaver to infiltrate a white supremacist group. When Weaver refused, it seemed that was when the trouble started. A clerical error regarding Weaver's trial date eventually led to the 11-day standoff at the Weaver compound and the deaths of Weaver's wife and son. A year later, in Waco, Texas, when David Koresh, head of the Branch Davidian group, was suspected of converting semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic weapons, Koresh was tipped off to the FBI's plans to raid the compound, and chaos ensued.

But it was the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and the implementation of the Patriot Act that put the FBI and other government agencies in the domestic spying business. It was the election of Donald Trump in 2016 that scared the dark powers of the federal government. Trump was an outsider. He didn't need anyone else's money to do what he wanted to do, and scariest of all to them, he could not be controlled. D'Souza also briefly mentions his previous film, "2000 Mules," while explaining how the FBI, in full collusion with the federal government and the media, prepared to take Trump out politically in 2020.

Observations from last night:

• Both theaters in DuPage—west of city—were packed

• Opening scene is 🔥

• Emotional reactions to ⁦@GeriPerna⁩, Joe Bolanos

• ⁦@RealStevefriend⁩ ⁦@KyleSeraphin⁩ ⁦@SeniorChiefEXW⁩ are excellent

But perhaps no other event puts the full force of the FBI's new focus on domestic surveillance better than January 6, 2021. D'Souza interviews several people whose lives were forever changed at the hands of the federal government. Joseph Bolanos, 69, a longtime Upper West Side resident, maybe one of the few Trump supporters in his neighborhood, had a stellar reputation as president of his block association. After being in Washington on Jan. 6 but not being anywhere near the Capitol, he was overheard talking about being there. A neighbor turned him in to the FBI. Both his and the apartment of his 94-year-old mother, who was in a rehab facility at the time, were raided and ransacked. Bolanos was handcuffed, paraded for maximum exposure, and detained for three hours. He has had a stroke because of the stress, and his neighbors shun him because they think he is a domestic terrorist. Bolanos sobbed as he recounted the story to D'Souza.

Geri Perna, whose nephew Matthew was inside the Capitol for approximately 14 minutes, was wanted by the FBI. Perna, who had done nothing wrong and committed no crimes, was arrested. The FBI strung him and his attorney along, making them think the whole thing would go away if he just pled guilty to witness tampering, entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and two counts of disorderly conduct. And as if ruining his professional and personal life weren't enough, prosecutors also wanted to add a terrorism enhancement to the charges. The stress was too great, and Matthew Perna hung himself. He was 37. Moms whose only crime was to show up at school board meetings to object to pornographic material in the school library also got doors knocked down by the FBI.

Dinesh D'Souza paints a truly chilling picture of what it is like to live in Joe Biden's America in 2023 if you are seen as an opponent of the government. So many of these stories literally brought me to tears. This movie terrified me, and it also made me mad as hell. Who do these people think they are?! Who has decided that those who disagree with the government can be targeted at any time? It is clear that the prime targets of this government are conservatives, Christians, parents, and anyone deemed a political opponent by the Biden administration, agencies like the FBI, and other entities deeply embedded in the federal government that no one knows of. It should be a huge wake-up call to what will happen if Democrats, the "deep state," whatever we choose to call them, get re-elected and continue to empower their unelected cronies. How bad are we willing to let it become? Dinesh D'Souza asked Dan Bongino, "Is America becoming a police state?" My answer is: We already are.

I was suppose to go with a friend but had to cancel so she went with her son. She told me about it and said it was so good. Her college (out now) aged son said he didn’t know anything about Ruby Ridge as they never were taught it in school. She said it was amazing and she cried many times over treatment of J6’s.

Go see it if you get the chance.

It is happening here... and we have a chance to stop it... to have members of the cabal arrested, taken to court and jailed.

I watched it online tonight. It’s very scary. As Bongino or D’Souza said (I forget which) during the Q&A, Republicans and conservatives need to stiffen their spine. We are “trapped by our own decency.” Our D.A.’s for example, should start charging them. Mayorkas would be a good prospect to charge with knowing child trafficking is going on across the border but doing nothing to stop it.
