Vanity - Jordan loses 3rd vote to be elected speaker
Wuli | 10/20/23 | Wuli

Why don't quite a number of GOP House members just admit they don't want to be in a political party, don't understand what having a political majority can mean for all members of the party, and just want to stand out instead of being included - so why don't they just leave their party and be done with it, and provide the inevitable, handing the speaker role to the Dims.

Those 20-25 members are Demonrats. They lied to their constituents about what party they belonged to. They need to be removed from office.

We need a Constitutional Amendment to permit recalls of both House and Senate members.

We always pick on democrats for being mindless NPC robots, but on the flip side, you have to admire how loyal to the party they are

The Deep state is being outed with every vote.

Eventually, if the rest of the caucus holds firm, the refuseniks will need to either capitulate to the will of the rest of the party and their constituents, or they will make a coalition with the Dems and expose themselves as Unipary hacks.

You must be talking about Gaetz and his gang of 8. I guess hostage taking doesn’t get rewarded

This has the makings of a Bush-Rove operation. Let some moderates vote for Jordan in the first round, and let a few peel off each time to make it look like he’s losing ground.

I don’t necessarily see this as a bad thing.

The Democrats march together in lockstep, but they march towards evil goals.

We need a Constitutional Amendment to permit recalls of both House and Senate members.

I think that possibility is within the jurisdiction of the states, as the elections of those offices comes under the election rules in the states. The Constitution only defines eligibility for those offices, not the detail rules of the elections.

If someone does not like their own party’s person in an elected office, the route to removing them is in the next election, in the primaries. Nothing wrong with that.

I don’t know where is your evidence the House GOP members you call Democrats are in fact Democrats. Is it only because you disagree with them? They apparently got sufficient GOP votes in their state in primaries that nominated them to start with.

Gaetz and the other seven Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy have just offered to accept censure or expulsion from the GOP conference if that will get Jordan elected as Speaker.

I think they ought to probably vote in Scalise, simply because he is still to the Right of Republican voters, which all of them are really, but he does have the political goodwill of a lot of voters along with the name recognition. I think Scalise is probably as good as it gets.

I envy their motivation and determination to push their agenda. But then again, they don’t have to push that hard.

The Republican mindset is one of weakness and appeasement, which comes about as a result of not having any core convictions or principles. The GOP is a pushover.

I can’t find that story, but even if true how would that placate Jordan opponents?
