Phil Mickelson must have been the face to agroup of gamblers if he could afford to lose a billion.
Here is the most recent interview with Billy Walters conducted by Brent Musberger, Walters over the years has been somewhat of a recluse this is one of the few interviews he’s ever conducted, it’s fascinating, if you are interested in the mind of a professional gambler, one who has made millions on sports gambling, I had no idea of the work he put in over the years seeking an edge and obviously he did it very well.

He didn’t lose a billion, that is the sum he wagered over the years, Walters claims Mickelson lost over 100 million of the 1 billion he wagered.
100 million is a lot of money but Mickelson could probably afford it.
LIV contract alone was $200 million.
Sports, especially skilled based sports, are full of OCD like people.
I’ve heard it mentioned a time or two about Phil Mickelson’s penchant for gambling. Had no idea this was a very expensive and self-admitted addiction.
Gambling is ruining sports.
People are going to start finding out that almost every game in any sport is fixed to some degree.
Lot of rumors about Michael Jordan and why he had to “retire” from the NBA for a few years.
Just like our elections.
Indeed.
Considering how his eyes looked in “The Last Dance”, I’d say he has/had more than one issue.
You’d think that the Super Bowl 47 fiasco would have awakened quite a few sports fans.
But, their team won and a famous name went out in the glory of winning an SB!
Never mind that Guido and Luigi were in from Vegas...
The only reason why sports have gone professional is because of gambling. If gambling disappeared, so would professional sports.
Not that isn’t a bad thing. I’ve always been of the opinion that sports were meant to be played for fun and not because you can become a billionaire from it.
Heard MJ had issues getting top dollar for his Chicago estate because it was too customized with MJ self-adoration decor. Two very wealthy and influential liberals: MJ and Dean Smith (RIP).
I’m fascinated by people like Billy Walters, he has self-taught brilliance, he’s basically a savant with numbers and handicapping sports but puts incredible time and effort into gathering every conceivable piece of information about every game he bets on, it’s pretty remarkable.
Here’s one of his rare interviews with Lara Logan when she was with 60 minutes, outwardly he seems like a very personable and engaging person, who is brilliant and puts in the work and basically outworks most people and can tolerate a lot of risk.

The USA is one of the very few countries that doesn’t allow gambling everywhere, in the UK they’re betting parlors everywhere, you can bet on anything imaginable.
Legal Gambling removes whatever cheating or game fixing that might exist to large degree, if something is up with a game in terms of fixing it, the people who usually report it are legal bookies.
Bookies are not overly concerned about the outcome of games, it’s the balancing of the wagers they take that allows them to make fortune, if you could make 10% of everything you did, it would not take long to become insanely wealthy, which is what bookies make.
The last thing legal bookies want is the game to considered fixed, it would quickly ruin their business and bankrupt them in the process.
The more legal gambling that is done, the less likely game fixing becomes.
Sports both Professional and College are more honest by a large margin than our election system.
Legal Gambling removes much of the rigging of sports that might exist, the last thing legal casinos and sports books want is to be accused of running a dirty operation, it would quickly ruin their business.
For the most part they self police the business, exposing any attempt to fix the outcome of a game.
The more legal gambling that happens, the less likely it is for games to be fixed.
Many of the recent suspensions for gambling among NFL players were made because the players were using WiFi in the team facility to place bets.
The NFL has more or less turned themselves over to gambling. There are betting windows inside many stadiums. Advertising everywhere for FanDuel and others.
It’s just a matter of time before the NFL has a major gambling scandal and it could very well finish the league.
Slow news day at Sports Illustrated I see.
The same goes for game officials.
