Is this the original? If so, then highly recommended. It shows what can be accomplished with a small budget and a big concept.

There are one or two other films from that series which would be great to see again if they can be tracked down. Supposedly the tapes were not retained.

The one I’d really like to have was a post-apocalyptic/sword and sorcerer mashup involving a questing hero accompanied by what appears to be one of the last items of the collapsed technology.

The other was a micro-budget sci-fi about a guy in his house with various weird things going on.

It used to be hard to get this film on the Net.

Thank you!

I believe I saw it on PBS when it came out. For me it was a must see because I had read the book. I rarely read non-fiction.

Of all things, a PBS production. After it aired, the master tapes were destroyed, so this is a recreation made from video cassette tapes. The original is much better than the remake, starring James Caan.

It is an obligatory watch, along with the Orson Welles narrated “Future Shock” (short).

Movies made for a short time in the 1970s, some of which are remarkably politically incorrect by today’s standards.

There was one movie that PBS reran a lot along with lathe of heaven about two boys and one was an alien or a spirit returned from the dead I think.

If unable to find your movie title using normal methods, try
the Wayback Machine. In your search engine browser type:
archive.org, movie, [movie title] [year]

Should there be anything to find, the listings will be shown;
you will be searching for the download of the movie. This
was just found using this method:
ANDROMEDA STRAIN (1971)
https://archive.org/details/the-andromeda-strain-1971
You'll not be successful with all movies, but you will be
pleasantly surprised at times.

I remember seeing that on PBS back around 1980 or so! When all people on earth turned one shade of grey you could still tell the races apart! (Opps? Did I give something away?)
