US Navy Nuclear submarines = The Best Deterrence in our dangerous world.
Bump
Will watch thanks
First time seeing inside a real virginia class sub. Been on an 88s and boomers but no virginia class.
I resemble your remark. Regards
What we saw was amazing!
We can’t even imagine what we didn’t see, nor mentioned.
4L*TR
Radio and ESM still have their own rooms but they make the sonar sup stand in this little rectangle in the control room. 637s rule(d).
The boomer I rode had torpedo tubes and no towed array. Installed after I left. How things have changed.
Yeah now the only two actual valves in the control room are the chicken switches. Everything else has an actuator attached.
I was C-130 aircrew. I’d rather see the world from 25,000 feet than from 1000 feet below sea level.
Kristian Saucier says WTH!
(Jailed for “leaking” pictures from inside a sub.)
I actually had a girl I went to high school ask me what we did underway, under water. I told her we played poker, read books, slept and worked. She said didn’t you look at fish sometimes. I told her Glenda we didn’t have portholes, just torpedo tubes. No windows, and 16 big ones for who pissed us off. USS Benjamin Franklin, SSBN 640 Gold. 🙂
Submarine Tour (((PING)))
only been on one...
an old US WWII boat, the Cod
Kool, quite a difference I’m sure, stone tablets & chisel screens run by Fred with Barney in the Galley making Dinner vs Touchscreens with a couple of Culinary Chiefs making very different meals with many fresh ingredients compared to canned/dried foods from WWII.
I’m kinda surprised that they were allowed to have and take video of the inside. I’m sure that the Touchscreen Displays were on camera, surely the Displays were showing unclassified information. The last time I saw a video of a modern Submarine the Displays had cardboard over them.
That said both Crews were/are still Underwater Warriors living and working in a tough unforgiving dangerous environment while putting their lives on line for their Families and Country.
I Thank them all for their service.
yup
I couldnt tolerate the torpedo tube crawl, fast forward through it. I still got some PTSD from crawling F-111 intakes. This whole thing gives me the creeps to be honest. God bless the submariners.
Incidentally, they do articulate the periscope with an xbox controller.
So that titan technology has some validation.
