Breaking: DeSantis Quietly Signs New Law Sealing All of His Travel Records From Public, the Law Applies Retroactively
Conservative Treehouse ^ | May 12, 2023 | Sundance

Ron DeSantis always makes a big deal about signing all of the Florida laws that stem from new legislation the people behind his administration submit from his office. However, when he signed the new law that sealed all his travel records [Previously Discussed Here], he did so quietly.

.... Snip....

Ron DeSantis ’24 is 100%, guaranteed to be an absolute construct of the billionaires, multinationals, and hedge fund managers who must stop Donald Trump and the America First platform. Look backward at the professional Republican outcomes in 2018, 2020 and 2022 to see the background of what this is all about.

FLORIDA – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law Thursday that would hide records about his past and future travel, as well as powerful people he meets with, at a time when he’s widely expected to be on the cusp of announcing he’ll run for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

DeSantis signed the bill into law unceremoniously on Thursday afternoon, among more than 35 other bills. His office sent an email to the press that listed the bills that were now law.

Under the new law, details about the governor’s trips — whether on state planes or private, chartered flights — will be retracted, including names of staff and family members that travel with DeSantis. Visitor logs to the governor’s mansion and his office also will be hidden.

The retraction will shield information not just from journalists but from DeSantis’s political opponents, who would likely compile droves of research to use against the governor for public scrutiny. Chief among these could be instances in which DeSantis traveled with lobbyists or others who might have been trying to curry favor with him. (read more)

“Better than the prez whose record is to lock us down and pay big pharma billions.”

You come across like a wild assed liar.

DeSantis was enforcing the lock down in the beginning. And he was promoting the vaccine in the beginning. Trump was being lied to. Still, he issued executive orders for every American to have access to monoclonal antibodies and hydroxcloroquine, not the vaccine, which Biden reversed when he got into office.

You are pathetic.

DeSantos is vaccinated. Like everything else with this phony he saw a political opening and ran with it.

And every year the homeowners premiums raise by 25% he takes a checks from the insurance agencies with one hand and pulls a ballerina with a beard out of a hat with the other.

Bill & Hillary closed down access to all sorts of “public” records in Arkansas before they left the state years ago. DeSantis is in good company?

Florida is an open records state like Texas, DeSantis has no business doing this.

And what about the Dobb’s decision overturning Roe v Wade? Does that go against your conservative principles as well?

Nope!

Roe v. Wade was a horrible law but Trump didn't overturn it. The judges he put on the bench overturned it.

Of course, we can thank McConnell for keeping Scalia's seat open and we can thank RBG for sticking around past her expiration date and dying on Trump's watch.

Any Republican president would've given us three new SCOTUS judges. I'm still waiting to be impressed by their other rulings.

Yet, Dobbs has turned out to be a GOTV bonanza for the Democrats that the GOP still can't figure out how to navigate.

Correct. And you’re quibbling. The bottom line is, it would not have been overturned had Trump not appointing three genuine Federalists to the bench and stuck with them when other Republicans would have bailed (e.g. The Bushes, Reagan).

For years the GOP Establishment had accepted the proposition that you couldn’t “upset the balance” of the Supreme Court. A conservative could be replaced by another conservative, and a liberal could be replaced by another liberal. But you couldn’t replace a liberal Justice (e.g. Ginsburg) with a conservative one (e.g. Barrett).

The Democrats had already won on the abortion issue so they were more than happy to accept a stalemate based on the existing status quo. And the Republicans, as usual, went along with this “gentlemen’s agreement”.

The Dobb’s decision would not have taken place had a poll-tested establishment Republican been in office at that time. It simply would not have happened without Trump. You know it and I know it.

Jeb Bush would’ve had the opportunity to place three justices on the Supreme Court, same as Trump. Now, whether Jeb would’ve been elected over Hillary is a whole different question altogether.

Keep in mind, Trump wanted to put his 80-something liberal sister Maryanne Trump Barry (retired federal judge) on the Supreme Court. “She’d be great!” he quipped.

Cooler heads prevailed.

I’m still waiting for Trump’s SCOTUS pics to impress me on 2A issues but I can’t say I’m not a little bit worried.

To quote the Pretender In Chief, Come on man! You’re going to cite that unsourced rumor as if it were fact? As far as him saying “She’d be great!”, what do you expect him to say? It’s his sister. Cooler heads never had to prevail, because Trump had already committed to choosing from a list he had provided prior to being elected. And he kept his word.

ROFL! Your “arguments” have descended into a bucket of unprincipled slop. Anything — ANYTHING — is ok with you if it isn’t/wasn’t Trump.

Typical GOPe triangulation “electable” “go along to get along” attitude that gave us Presidents McCain and Romney.

Oh wait. No, those buffoons lost. But Bush and Daddy Bush won! Giving us Clintoon and Obama.

To hell with the country club GOPe! May they die and rot aboveground as an example.

Long live the populist Trump GOP! It’s our only chance against the globalist demonic evil.

“Glad to see Trump Cultists Triggered” .

I’m not triggered, I believe in open government. Florida is an open records state. DeSantis used the color of law to hide his public records RETROACTIVELY and that has NOTHING to do with Trump or anyone else and how they handle their PERSONAL income taxes.

You are focusing on the wrong things, imho.

Early covid decisions are not a problem. It was a mystery the first year what we were dealing with, so we all did the best we could with increasing high death rates. This was the final 10 months before the election, so some of the decisions had big opposition in mind.

Anything stemming from false prosecutions is also not a realistic criticism of President Trump. Those wars were based on the disloyalty of traitorous government agencies.

Criticism for personnel choices is entirely fair for his personal staff. Choices requiring senate confirmation are as much a senate problem as a Trump problem.

Current choices about lgbtqi are his to own. Fair game.

He likely will be the republican nominee for 2024.
