Former Federal Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy Notes Trump Indictment Doesn’t Outline any Crime

Andrew McCarthy notes the same thing everyone else is noticing, the absence of a violation of a criminal statute. {Direct Rumble Link}

For the first time in United States history a former president has been accused of a crime and indicted, yet the person making the accusation and bringing the charge doesn’t say what crime has been committed. What criminal statute has been violated? Even the leftist media are apoplectic at the weakness of the indictment. WATCH:

So why wasn’t there a motion to summarily dismiss?

That’s a good question. I think that first, Trump’s attorneys had to be fully informed of what the “charges” were. Second, now that they know what he is facing, they will analyze the “charges” and put together a motion for dismissal which will be upheld in the event the current judge doesn’t grant the motion. As best as I can understand this from reading through the various articles, many legal scholars are already saying that no statutory law was broken.

If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.

Does anyone think the judge might notice that?

Supposedly it’s a violation of the federal election finance laws. But apparently Bragg has implied that it’s a NY election finance law that’s been violated. Here is a clip of John Bolton (of all people) explaining why that’s rubbish:

As ususal, Bolton doesn’t see the big picture. Regardless of what is written in the law, the law is what the NYC prosecutor and courts say it is. A kangaroo court is tougher to mount a defense in than a regular court. The outcome is predetermined and Trump will be tied up in appeals for years until it gets over into the federal system. NYC will sentence him and keep him confined during appeals. Wait and see.

The Supreme Court of the US would crush that case if it gets that far.
