That may have been the case a few decades ago. Now I suspect someone will visit whichever judge is “randomly” assigned to the case, to make sure he understands expectations as to sentencing. Any major charges will be reduced or dropped and he will probably serve 18 months or so of probation and a small fine which will be paid by the party machine.
I’m sure someone else will visit both the defendant and his attorney and let them know the possible repercussions for speaking any name other than his own. He will certainly insist it is all a big misunderstanding and no one else was involved in his “mistakes”.
