Scenes from a celebration of the same-sex marriage law — at Mar-a-Lago - “We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard,” Donald Trump told a Log Cabin Republicans gala.

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Hundreds of guests in tuxedos of all styles — sequined, quilted, velvet — and colorful gowns sipped on Trump-branded champagne and martinis. Between courses of steak and bite-sized Key lime pie, they danced to “YMCA” and “Macho Man,” the disco anthems at Trump rallies.

Thursday night’s Log Cabin Republicans’ “Spirit of Lincoln” gala in the main ballroom of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago beachfront club was a joyous celebration of gay rights and — in a case of ironic timing — the historic same-sex marriage law signed by President Joe Biden days earlier.

The long-planned event in honor of the conservative LGBTQ organization’s 45th anniversary brought in Republican notables like former Ambassador Ric Grenell, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), former State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus, who emceed the evening in a feathered turquoise gown, and former GOP gubernatorial candidate from Arizona Kari Lake, who was swarmed by guests eager to meet her and take a photo.

But the main attraction, obviously, was Trump. He received a standing ovation after delivering an enthusiastic affirmation of gay rights not often heard in the GOP.

“We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard,” the former president and 2024 candidate said. “With the help of many of the people here tonight in recent years, our movement has taken incredible strides, the strides you’ve made here is incredible.”

Throughout the evening, speakers praised Trump for his embrace of the gay community. They credited him for his initiatives to combat the criminalization of homosexuality, his work pushing for public heath initiatives to combat the HIV

Other than being pro life, Trump has never been a social conservative. He and his friend Giuliani have a long history of supporting gay rights and as a supporter of liberty I stand with Trump.

Question:

I read that Christ did not say, "Love the sinner, hate the sin." Who did?

Answer:

It’s from St. Augustine. His Letter 211 (c. 424) contains the phrase Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly to “With love for mankind and hatred of sins.” The phrase has become more famous as “love the sinner but hate the sin” or “hate the sin and not the sinner” (the latter form appearing in Mohandas Gandhi’s 1929 autobiography).

What the Bible does tell us though, is that all men have committed sins, and we are all therefore sinners. That he sent his only son Jesus to absolve the sins of all who acknowledge that his son was their route to salvation.

I personally interpret my duty as being, to turn to the Lord and his divine guidance, and help others do the same for their sins to be absolved also.

Jesus also said: He who is without sin, cast the first stone. What exactly does that mean?

Jesus was teaching in the temple when the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery, and they asked Him if she should be stoned as required by the Law of Moses.

However, they cared nothing about this woman; they were using her to trap Jesus.

In their minds, if He told them to set the woman free, they could claim He did not hold to the Law of Moses. If He told them to stone her, they could claim He was not the Savior; and, if He said nothing, they could claim He lacked wisdom.

Jesus did not answer immediately but stooped and wrote something on the ground, and they kept pressing Him. Finally, the Lord said, in essence, “Go ahead and stone her because that is what the Law requires. But the Law also requires that the first stone be thrown by a person who is sinless in connection with this charge”.

The story is found in John 8:1–11

Now the moral I take away from the story is really that one's sin must not be the exact same sin as they condemn and the Bible instructs that behavior to be a sin, but a sin that is similar in nature. I think promotion of that sin is also a sin, but that sin can be countered by working with the sinner to abandon the sin. I think it's a fine line we must walk, without question. But I will leave final judgement to the Lord who truly has the final judgement.

I have personally known some people who love members of their same sex. Most of them are good people in all other aspects of their lives which caused me to have respect for them as humans beings. I still disagreed with their choices, and I was honest in my dealings with them. We were friends. There were others, whom I considered to be unacceptable because of their behaviors beyond the sexual aspect of their lives. These were the ones that were flamboyant radical types, who wanted to get in your face, and demand you accept their lifestyle as normal.

Also, I can't be sure why they are attracted to the people who are of the same sex. Is it also a mental issue much like the trans thing? One thing I don't believe is that they were born that way. Something in their lives was the catalyst for their choice, is my belief.

For these reasons, I refuse to condemn Donald John Trump, or these sinners.

I will continue to support Donald John Trump, for I see far more good than evil in the man. He is not the one that fashioned or pushed for this same-sex marriage law. If these people share the majority of beliefs that we do, then I want them in my corner, instead of rejecting them and forcing them to go somewhere else. That is just plain illogical not to mention short-sighted. It's akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Furthermore, I have already taken the chance with Donald John Trump and he has proven to me that he is sincere in his love for this country & his desire to save this nation is genuine.

Why would I start all over again, especially when I feel we don't have the luxury of trying out someone new, who I can't say with the same confidence, that Ron DeSantis is also like Donald John Trump only more electable, can you?

United we stand, divided we fall. Think & choose wisely.

In re money, your dollars might go best to a solid school board or mayoral or DA candidate. Local. Don’t stop giving. The local races benefit the most from you, anyway.

What about those who have supported him from day 1, only to be revulsed by his apparent capitulation to evil?

But Trump has been this way since Day One.

His gay-friendly positions aren't something recent.

No that’s not what I’m saying. What goes on in anyone’s bedroom is no one’s business. It’s not a loose interpretation of immorality, it’s a fact.

Now the whole thing of exposing kids to drag, in any form is absolutely not right. Children should have the right to grow up innocent. I am actually appalled at the little boy who is/was the the mascot of doing drag AT shows when he was under 10. These parents whore out their kids for attention & money. That is sick, as is anything or anyone who exploits children.

Surprisingly a very large percentage of gays seem to be repulsed by the whole kids and drag thing. Gays are also very negative when it comes to the trans community. These parents, and I use that word scornfully, who think it’s cool to encourage their children to change genders, go to drag events, etc......I pray their karma will be swift and furious. As to why our government allows hormones & gender surgery/mutilation for ANY child under 18 is the question for the ages.

If you are looking for perfection, you will not even find it in the mirror, and that was not meant as a slight towards you .Just the fact that mankind is imperfect, and no one is without sin.

However, if you are looking for a person who is willing to take on the fight to save this nation, then looking towards Trump is an excellent choice.

Any time you hear a candidate . . . or FR poster . . . talking about Getting Things Done, this indicates they are not conservative.

Conservatism celebrates government doing nothing. This is NOT getting things done. Getting things done is government intrusion.

“But he was one of the first to open his bathroom doors to trannies who demanded they be allowed to use the other sex’s bathrooms.”

Where was this? At one of his businesses?

Trump has done a great deal for this country, and he will continue to do so if elected again for a third time, but his support of the lgbtq immorality is one drawback our side doesn’t need. But at least he wasn’t promoting it by passing law after law g8ving them special rights like the faux pres in whitE house is doing”

Agreed. I may disagree with him on some of the social issues, but he’s been pretty libertarian with much of his social policies in the sense that he believes in leaving most of these decisions to the states. I’m fine with that. The few areas where the federal government has a role to play, his record is pretty good (Supreme Court appointments, Roe V Wade, Trans in the military, etc.)

For those who are first and foremost economic conservatives or libertarians, this may not be a big deal. But for those who are first and foremost social conservatives, this is a big deal. And social conservatives were oftentimes his biggest source of support. It will cost him votes. Bigly.

That Trump would support gay rights should come as no surprise to anyone who’s actually been paying attention to Trump.

people keep confusing Trump and MAGA for conservative Republicanism..

Neither the Right...nor the Left -without electoral fraud- can win elections across the country. Most Americans are just not that radical. Trump knows this better than anyone else

Its that simple

I’m done with trump. I know that sounds cliche. I’m the last one I guess. This is why he supports McCarthy. Heck no. Trump is easily duped, can’t pick a good employee for anything. Now all this. Republican party is not salvageable.

The baseball cards thing is more dumb thinking, worse employing. Even every one of his lawyers sucked to high heaven. Did he hire anybody good but McEnany!!!
