I agree, the problem is Trump is helping them. He can act magnanimous, say what a great job DeSantis did, and more Republican governors should be like him, and blast Mitch McConnell for his ineptitude. Then the whole thing fizzles out.
But he’s adding the fuel to the fire by blasting DeSantis, and gives the Media the ammunition they need to stir up Republicans who don’t want to see DeSantis badmouthed for no reason, and here we are on the verge of an open civil war in the Republican party.

First, DeSantis fixed Florida election laws, created election police and trotted out those who broke election laws very publicly.
Second, Florida had over 99% of its vote counted by midnight on Tuesday.
DeSantis led on covid, unlike Abbott who needs polls before he does anything or Trump who became a deer in the headlights throughout the pandemic, never firing Fauci.
DeSantis campaigned hard inside Florida to expand his GOP majority and he succeeded.
DeSantis sent 48 illegals to Martha's Vineyard and put the national spotlight on the Democrats' hypocrisy.
When hurricane Ian was about to hit, DeSantis warned looters that Florida is a right to carry state. A great example of DeSantis showing strength and trolling the left.

Trump is in charge of the party. This was his election. He got his candidates on the ballot. Then he hung them out to dry with no strategy, no message, no financial support.
The reason why so many lost is because they were being smeared right after their primary wins by the left and did not respond. Everyone was thinking that campaigns do not start until after Labor Day forget that early voting by mail happens earlier. By the time Trump's candidates started campaigning, hundreds of thousands of votes were cast against them.
