It’s not surprising that Democrats have been salivating ever since the House panel unanimously voted to subpoena Trump last week. As is ever the case with Trump, be careful what you wish for.
There are all kinds of ways in which Trump’s testimony can backfire on his antagonists. First, one of the reasons the Jan. 6 committee hearings have had whatever success they have had is that it is an uninterrupted, one-sided narrative.

If Trump can be subpoenaed do can Biden.
Trump will get abused, but win.
Biden and the Democrats will escape justice but be reaveled for what they are.
They will never agree to public testimony. They will insist it be behind doors and then will misrepresent to the press what was said. As they done multiple times already.
As if that matters.
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to sit for a deposition Wednesday as part of a defamation lawsuit brought by a former magazine columnist who claims he raped her in the 1990s.
Trump was ordered to appear under oath and answer questions from attorneys for E. Jean Carroll, who Trump described as “not my type” when he denied her allegation that he had attacked her in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman nearly three decades ago.
Trump had tried for years to delay the defamation case and avoid the deposition, most recently when Carroll said she intended to sue him in November for the alleged rape itself using a new law in New York that will allow sexual assault victims to sue regardless of how old their allegations are. The new law is scheduled to take effect on Nov. 24.
True, to a degree.
But eventually rotten fish get to smelly for everyone.
I think he should show up, plead the 5th, walk out.
Then flip them the bird.
I've always loved how Prime Minister Abe (RIP) showed his support for President Trump and his disdain for Merkel and company. BTW, Merkel released that photo as proof of standing up to the President, but she looks pale and out of control.
Thank you for that question Ms Cheney and congratulations on your record winning primary loss.
Well, that doesn't mean there were any Republican votes for it.
“I honestly think Trump is going to march up to Capitol Hill and crush them all in open testimony. Nothing would be more epic.”
I think Trump needs to demand that the raw footage of 1/6 be presented. Hundreds of video cameras around the Capitol and the best the Democrats can do is a video by Pelosi’s daughter.
She's not just her daughter, she's an aspiring cinematographer artist who just happened to be thee on January 6th, hmmmm
Regarding Trump:
1. Senator McConnell and the media speak of all the “unappealing” candidates that PDJT and the Republican Party has put up for the general election, but an appealing candidate is a) a team player who b) has integrity and c) wins. An unappealing candidate — take Alaska’s Murkowski for example — is one who is entrenched by the establishment and thus free to behave poorly. By this obvious metric, we will have proof in just a few weeks that Trump is the one putting up appealing candidates, not McConnell.
2. In the Senate alone, Trump’s imminent wins are astounding. The media will focus on the 51-49 or 52-48 outcome, which they will describe as little changed from 2022 Q3; but for Trump, the shift in terms of swing votes is HUGE. Out go anti-Trumpers in three states, replaced by his endorsees. He’ll flip Nevada and possibly Arizona or Georgia. Murkowski may lose, as well, and the victory for Trump here would go far beyond the obvious head count. The MAGA pickup (as opposed to the Party pickup) is at least 5 Senators and up to 8.
3. This is just the 2022 cycle and the tip of the iceberg for Dems. Properly interpreted, the results of this midterm election predict the likely wipeout in 2024. Just for example, if ANY Republican wins in 2024, Justice Clarence Thomas will likely retire by the end of that term; and Alito might retire as well — replaced by 50-something successors. What is happening at the top is also unfolding down the ranks. A Republican White House after 2024 essentially guarantees a conservative judiciary for the next three decades.
I could go on. Everyone who comes to Free Republic needs to keep the faith and get out the vote. Please!
(For the record, I prefer Pompeo, Haley, DeSantis and Trump, in that order as the Party’s nominee in 2024. My post is not about Trump, though I think he is a genius who has done great work for this country. I merely prefer him as kingmaker going forward rather than king, partly for his own sake. He’s old and for all of our sakes should enjoy his last full decade of life.)
Trump wants it live, they want it recorded and secret and they want the ability to release snippets out of context to further their absurdly false narrative to the brain dead.
Other than her UN service, have you made note of her SC governor’s stint? Our SC conservative friends, and every family and friend of theirs could not wait for her to leave
SC for the UN. They considered her to be a RINO’s RINO, a Chris Christie/Mitt Romney super-lover, wholly owned. Just sayin’.
Agree everyone on the House panel has many skeletons in their closet to hide may get exposed.
Statues of limitations exist for a reason. On one hand I have seen barely legal adults trying to get justice for being abused in their adolescence and being denied and on the other I see adults waiting decades trying to score a payday and getting support because of political motives.
Traitor Bolton ruins the iconic image. Trump was correct about Nordstream 2 and Europes risk of being beholden to Russia gas.
That’s why President Trump will demand a public hearing and when the committee say no, he will walk away. He has then just proved his point, that the committee is full of it and afraid to let sunshine into their non-investigation.
And will he be able to put off a contempt case until the January inauguration of the new House?
