Another hidden classic jam. Unfortunately, though this song came out right in 1981 when new wave and glam rock started to take over. It does sound like it was released in the 1970s.

Ah yes, when he was playing this song at the Park West in Chicago I remember hanging off the balcony while shouting “you’re a rock god!”
Surprisingly, they didn’t kick me out.
Love that tune. Brings back memories.
Havent heard the name since going to their concert at Mote Vista in 81
πΈπ€ good stuff.
Good song. It sounds a lot like The Knack (My Sharona). The Greg Kihn Band is seriously underrated and under remembered.
Great song.
I graduated in 81 but donβt remember the song until a few years later in college. Odd.
Most people only remember the Greg Kihn Band for “Jeopardy” and forget that this was their first hit.
I think you’re wrong about Jeopardy. It is a very catchy song with the drums and guitar riffs. I have it on one of my Various Artists compilations and have fun playing my Roland E-drums along with it.
“I think you’re wrong about Jeopardy.”
I worked as a DJ in the early 80s. The Breakup Song was a #15 hit in 1981 from the album Rockihnroll. Jeopardy was a #2 hit in 1983 from the album Kihnspiracy.
In the 2000s when I worked at a classic rock station, I would often play “twofers” from the same artist, and listeners were often surprised that these two songs were by Greg Kihn.
Is he still sponsoring the Khin-cert in San Jose?
Saw them open up for the Stones at the Kingdome in 1981. They we’re followed by the J. Giles Band.
The Stones had a ginormous stage that projected out into the fans and used every inch of. Tge Greg Khin band looked like they were playing in a barn on a small bandstand.
Wonder if the dude still looks like one of the Joe Bidens
How was this a “hidden” classic? It got plenty of MTV plays and there were mixes for the dance clubs.
Not as much as for “Jeopardy” though. “Jeopardy” saw a ton of play in the clubs.
How many remember “Jeopardy” more for Weird Al’s “I Lost On Jeopardy”?
I saw the Stones in their ‘81 stop in Detroit. If Geils had opened for them there the fans would have tried to keep the Stones from coming on.
Geils may have been from Boston but they were the kings of Detroit.
