I would think at ad agencies with creative people that was pretty much how it went down, not necessarily the same as say a financial or engineering company.
Nah. It was nothing like that in the office. After hours? Yes it was loose. But exaggeration of periods of history is commonplace in series and movies. Heck even westerns did it. Adds entertainment.
