Frederick Forsyth wrote an excellent book about the Ibo attempt to break free of the Nigerian state by kicking off the Biafran War.

I’ll always remember reading Forsyth’s first novel, The Day of the Jackal, in 1972. It was absolutely impossible to put down. I read it through the night and into the morning until I finished. The whole day was shot. One hell of a book.
