George W. Bush sends cash to GOP impeachment voters facing challengers

Former President George W. Bush contributed to Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s (R-Alaska) reelection campaigns at the end of 2021, according to campaign finance reports filed Monday, backing up two of the most prominent Republicans who supported impeaching Donald Trump a year ago.

Bush donated a maximum individual contribution of $5,800 to Cheney last October. It was a small but notable piece of her total haul of $1.9 million in the last quarter of 2021, which swelled her campaign account to more than $4.7 million cash on hand. Bush had previously donated to Cheney in 2016, according to FEC records.

The 43rd president also threw in $2,900 — the maximum allowable primary donation — for Murkowski’s reelection efforts, adding to her $1.2 million intake in the last quarter of 2021. Murkowski ended 2021 with $4.2 million in the bank. It’s the first time Bush has donated to the Alaska senator, FEC records show.

Bush has contributed to a number of Republican political campaigns in recent years, but these appear to have been the former president’s first donations of 2021 — and they are significant in their symbolism. Trump has endorsed Republican challengers seeking to unseat Cheney, Murkowski and others as retribution after they voted to remove him from office and said he incited the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Cheney has drawn several Republican challengers for Wyoming’s at-large House seat, chief among them Harriet Hageman, a former Cheney supporter who won Trump’s endorsement to take her on. Trump’s endorsement has come with connections to his donors, though Hageman brought in significantly less than Cheney — about $443,000 — in the fourth quarter.

In Alaska, Trump endorsed Republican Kelly Tshibaka, a former state commissioner, against Murkowski in the Senate race. Tshibaka is also one of the Republican candidates joining Trump’s call to oust Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) from his leadership position.

Both Wyoming and Alaska’s primaries are on Aug. 16.

A reminder that Trump defeated both the Clinton dynasty and the Bush dynasty in 2016.

There are some things that money can’t fix...like treasonous stupidity.

Clinton and Bush aren’t dynasties.

Both are Deep State.

This “campaign” money is going to be used for her retirement party. That’s what it is.

She can also use it to bribe officials at her trial before she and the other coup plotters are executed for treason. /spit

Bush may have a lot of money, but he’s limited. People here, in most cases, have far less, but can EASILY donate to far more money to GOOD CANDIDATES, given the spending limits mentioned here and the fact that there are thousands of us.

“To think that I voted for him and his daddy.

I have no regrets doing the same, since EVERYTHING we’re now seeing would have happened 20+ years ago if Gore, Kerry, or The Loser had won.

Instead, it gave me a chance to live out much of my adult life and gave my kids a chance to grow up in a livable country.

Even Reagan, I don’t think, understood just how horrible his own party was (and they despised him too) - only Trump.

If George wants to throw money away to his Cronies, let him.

He needs to realize it isn’t a good look.

If he thinks it will make Democrats look back fondly on Bush/The Bush years and not hate him, he is delusional.

Meanwhile, Grifter George P is going all out in Texas to be Attorney General.

We’ll see on March 1 how toxic the name Bush wil be.

Reasonable assessment, too bad so many here delight in do or die, either/or, burn it all down.

Dubya doesn’t seem to get it. It’s not about money. Your brand of RINO is done. We’ve had it with you.

George P will get a resounding defeat. There is no pressing desire to oust Attorney General Paxton. Can’t for the life of me figure out why Louis Gohmert gave up his very safe House seat to get into that race. My only guess is that he wanted some State-wide experience and recognition so he can run for Senate next time Cornyn is up for re-election. Of course I’ve been saying the same thing about Colonel Allen West (for whom I’d gladly vote) as he doesn’t stand a chance against Governor Abbott. By the way, Beto is just running to scam people for campaign cash in his feeble attempt to take over in the People’s Republic of Austin!

It’s his money. It exposes him more. It’s up to us to point it out. Guess it’s happening here.

George P’s opponents need to campaign against him. I’ve seen very little campaigning.
