Calvin’s father was closer to the truth than he thought:
That is pretty much how they do it when Democrats are in charge. You see, the bridge in Pittsburgh that collapsed last week was known to be failing. It was one of those projects that the Obama/Biden administration touted as a “shovel ready job” that the nearly trillion dollar "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" was intended to fix.
So why didn’t it? Why was this rusted out bridge, first identified as a shovel ready job during Obama’s first term and scheduled to be rebuilt in 2016, left to fall down? Well, that’s an interesting question with an interesting answer. According to Monica Showalter’s post (via Instapundit) it was because Democrats have a proclivity for redirecting funding intended to fix failing infrastructure to Green Weenie projects. How is it a surprise that the first Brandon Administration, that wasted billions of tax payer dollars on bogus solar projects like Solyndra, would fund a bill that ended up diverting funds intended for highways and bridges to bike paths, dedicated self driving lanes and other green-boondoggles?
Check out this Twitter thread from a Pittsburgh local:
But of course, it wasn’t a crisis until the bridge actually collapsed. At least we’ve established the Democrat constituency’s capacity for their load of crap: they are willing to let a bridge collapse while waiting for the Feds to send in the engineers. Following Joey’s lead they can now complain about Republicans not allocating adequate federal spending to fix all the broken down infrastructure in America.
"We have been so far behind on infrastructure for so many years it's just mind-boggling," Mr. Biden told a group of elected officials and first responders during a visit to the collapse site. "...We used to be number one in the world."
Well Brandon, we were number one in the world until you and Obama came along and decided it wasn’t our turn to be #1 any longer and did everything in your power to fundamentally transform Amerika into another socialist/communist hell-hole. You demonized anyone who felt that making America Great Again was a worthy undertaking as a racist/fascist/white supremacist. You’ve laid all your cards on the table and we see you for the cheat and liar you are.
So stop lecturing us on how you need more money to fix stuff that you failed to fix the first time around with the $831 billion you were given. Just shut up and build something with what you’ve got.
One year hence: Nothing built, nothing back, nothing better
Most 8 year olds have built more than the Brandon Administration.
When God gives you snow don’t let it melt, use it.
But don’t worry, eventually Brandon will build another bridge to nowhere that can accommodate a high-speed bullet train to the same destination.

Only $80 billion of Obama’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill actually went towards roads and bridges.
The reason there weren’t any shovel ready jobs is because of all the federal red tape regulations kicked in. Which meant a higher level of actual environmental review and the infamous environmental justice review.
Most of these jobs were pavement restoration projects.
Let’s have a thread where we post dangerous bridges.
There are two bridges crossing the Connecticut River in Brattleboro VT that are dangerous to my eye. When there is a huge truck crossing over, I stay on the island between the bridges until there is a smaller load on the second bridge.
That Bridge was ripe for China Joe, all it needed was a push.
Obama/Biden wasted billions of tax payer dollars on bogus solar projects
like Solyndra.......which was a poorly disguised money laundry.
After the govt types deposited their share of tax dollars offshore.....Solyndra went belly up.
I have some family land in a VERY rural part of Mississippi. When Obama was in office they built a paved walking track nearby complete with pavilion, lighting, and landscaping. There’s no telling how many millions of dollars were spent on it and the sign out front proudly proclaimed how it was built with such and such green grant money. There isn’t a town within 20 miles of this place and nothing but cattle & timber farming outfits nearby, it sits in the middle of a cattle pasture. I doubt a dozen people have set foot on it in the ten years or so it’s been there. It makes about as much sense as putting a football stadium on a glacier in Greenland. I’m sure some buddy of Obama made a fortune in kickbacks from it though.
This will be blamed on Trump...... Wait and see....................
The new bridge in that location is under construction as I write this ( without Brandons so called “infrastructure” money I might add).
You note the various environmental reviews that consume time & money. Coming soon is the racial Justice/DIE review to further slow progress.
Can you provide more info? I'm interested in posting about this bridge but every article online about it having been a "shovel ready" job in 2016 goes back to that same tweet. Your explanation makes more sense --t hey were building a replacement so they ignored the old one.
On a roll today! Most excellent.
edwin, the bridge that VT enigma is discussing is in Brattleboro VT.
enigma, I am interested in the VT bridge since my wife and I hope to stay there on our 40th anniversary trip in a few months. Will do our best NOT to die on another Brandon maintained bridge while traveling.
We enjoyed the town with our kids 30+ years ago and want to visit it again.
I see. thanks
This is the article’s Money Quote: “Democrats have a proclivity for redirecting funding intended to fix failing infrastructure.” Also, environmental regulations have a tendency to gum up the works just as well. Shovel Ready My A@@, no such thing.
I suspect that this is the bridge in question.
Such a shame to see government incompetence destroy that which their fathers built.
Brattleboro has very different people since 30 years ago.
If a bridge is not on a US route, why is it up to the Feds to build/rebuild them?
These are state and local projects. They should be paid with state and local funds. If that means my state income tax goes up, so be it. I see my State Rep at church every week or so. I can go up and express myself to him. Not so easy with my Congress Critter.
Interstate highways and US truck routes or established highways, should be maintained with the gas tax and other federal tariffs.
We need to return to a State/Federal Relationship that puts the onus on the body that is closer to the people.
If the real costs are passed on to the people using the service...there will be more accountability.
The Greenland Glaciers! Isn’t that a hockey team? /s
I think somebody should point out that people who do most of their driving off the highways and interstates also pay the Fed gas tax.
Arguably they benefit, indirectly, from the availability of services thanks to those highways, but the local roads are just as important.
Fair enough….but I would be open to adjusting the Fed tax, and adding it to the states. It’s the bundling and apportionment where bike paths are built in lieu of bridges ( and the like.)
In general, push the responsibility back close to the people using it.
