Keep hearing of train burglaries in LA on the scanner so went to #LincolnHeights to see it all. And… there’s looted packages as far as the eye can see. Amazon packages, @UPS boxes, unused Covid tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains. @CBSLA

Video at link. I guess this is what happened to those pepper seeds I ordered from Amazon that now they are saying were lost in transit? How long can my state of California let this go on without societal collapse? It isn't just California though, there is a video of the act in progress outside of Chicago.

It’s ironc - the Chinese cr@p gets stuck on a container ship outside of LA for days, FINALLY docks, has to wait to get unloaded, then is put on graound transportation, where it is ransacked. The entire distribution chain is like something in a third-world country.

We’ve had a couple things “lost” too. Thankfully Amazon reimbursed us. One package supposedly even made it zll the way to a couple towns over from US, then they lost it.

It depends where you were and when. During the reign of the Conqueror's son, Henry I, it was said you could travel all over England with a gold coin attached to your forehead and no bandits would bother you. Henry I was pretty hard on crime, like severe torture before a slow and ugly execution... it worked. Sadly the civil wars between Stephen and Matilda plunged the country into anarchy after Henry's death.

Yes, Amazon reimbursed me for the seeds.. it was just $12.. but that’s two just on this string who were reimbursed. Amazon is a distribution network that facilitates small family businesses all over the world... this is not good for the ‘everyday man.’

When you’ve got two railroad cops vs. one hobo, my money is on the railroad cops. But do you do when there are two railroad cops vs. a gang of maybe 20 looters? Either accept the losses, or reroute your trains so they don’t go through urban areas.

As a side note, I wonder if anyone is designing a tamper-proof freight car. That might work.
