he US State Department is now urging all Americans in Ethiopia to leave the war-torn country “as soon as possible”. This after the US Embassy in Addis Ababa previously posted a “do not travel” advisory to its official website and began making preparations of its own to evacuate non-essential staff.
At the start of this week, the Ethiopian government went so far as to tell residents of the capital city of some 5 million people to start arming themselves as rebel Tigrayan fighters began a march southward from their northern enclave, with plans to overthrow the government under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Well, we have always been at war with Ethiopia.
Why would anyone in their right mind want to go to that 3rd world craphole in the first place?
I remember the 80s, when the most dangerous job in Ethiopia was to be a tail gunner on a bread truck.
Ethiopia has had its “ups and downs.” It had a majority Christian population at different times dating back to the time of the Apostles. Italy wanted to conquer it in the 30’s because it had some wealth and upside potential. I can suppose that a fair amount of trouble now is with invaders of a certain religious cult.
Pity.
