A lot of Taliban foot soldiers were just poor kids or orphans, who were forced into madrassas in Pakistan, where they were denied much of their childhood.

My favorite :
The guy sitting calmly on a wheel-well playing with his cell phone while the plane taxied down the runway.
Listen to a general in charge of training Afghani soldiers ; many could not read, some didn’t know right from left, and counting was beyond most.
They would all leave on payday. Refused to fight other muslims - even under fire from said muslims ; US guys had to expose themselves to lead them on and that’s when the US guys got hit.
