Fahrenheit 451 Quotes That Will Get You All Fired Up
Libertas Bella ^ | 7/8/2021 | Alex Horsman

Posted on 07/07/2021 11:00:00 PM PDT by libertasbella

“It was a pleasure to burn.”

“There must be something in books, things we can’t imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don’t stay for nothing.”

“The books are to remind us what asses and fools we are.”

“Remember, the firemen are rarely necessary. The public itself stopped reading of its own accord.”

“Oh God, the terrible tyranny of the majority. We all have our harps to play. And it's up to you to know with which ear you'll listen.”

“Nobody listens any more. I can’t talk to the walls because they’re yelling at me. I can’t talk to my wife; she listens to the walls. I just want someone to hear what I have to say. And maybe if I talk long enough, it’ll make sense. And I want you to teach me to understand what I read.”

“Maybe the books can get us half out of the cave. They just might stop us from making the same damn insane mistakes!”

“The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us.”

“It took some man a lifetime maybe to put some of his thoughts down, looking around at the world and life, and then I came along in two minutes and boom! it’s all over.”

“With school turning out more runners, jumpers, racers, tinkerers, grabbers, snatchers, fliers, and swimmers instead of examiners, critics, knowers, and imaginative creators, the word 'intellectual,' of course, became the swear word it deserved to be.”

“We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?”

As the FR idiots are so proud to proclaim here.

They will tell you what you think instead of asking what you think.

Typically I read two books at one time. A few chapters from one each night. Currently I'm alternating between “The Panzer Killers’’. It's the story of the US Army's Third Armored Division in WW2 commanded by Major General Maurice Rose.

Rose was the only Jewish American officer to rise to such a high rank during WW2.

The other was Heather MacDonald's “The Diversity Delusion'', a sobering account of how she says "Diversity and Inclusion are two of the most toxic words in the English language''. At one time I tried reading one of Bill O'Riellys books "Killing The SS''' and ''Mien Kampf'' but abandoned that pretty quick, ''Mien Kampf'' that is. Good God what a turgid, incomprehensible, incoherent pile of bs that thing is. After pushing my way through a few chapters I gave it up. The damned thing gave me a head ache.

Was that the same General Rose that was killed in the last few months of the war?

Yes, unfortunately. He was doing reconnaissance with a mall detachment of jeeps and an armored car when they ran into a German tank and were ambushed. Rose died in the crossfire.

Such was the tenor of the times in America when Rose entered the Army that he listed his religion as Protestant rather than Jewish.

Where do you think these lunatics get their inspiration.

It is from fiction.

They want the asinine fiction to become reality.

As I said,...they are LUNATICS.

Check out the life of Tibor Rubin. His Medal of Honor was delayed because his Sargent was stridently Antisemitic. This evil Sargent tried to get Rubin killed by leaving him alone to cover his squad’s retreat in Korea. Rubin not only survived but killed hordes of Chinese in his one man battle. There is a lot more to his story after that. A very inspiring life.

Good description.
I tried reading it as a teenager, just to see what all the fuss was about. All I could come up with was WTH?
Poor Adolph. Failed painter, failed writer. Too bad he couldn’t have failed sooner at politics.

It seems those inclined to collectivism will coalesce around anyone with a sufficiently impassioned grievance. The details don't matter.

As evidenced by how easily US citizens were spooked by the Whuhan Flu.

“It seems those inclined to collectivism will coalesce around anyone with a sufficiently impassioned grievance. The details don’t matter.”

Very true.
Someone can be as dumb as a box of rocks (apologies to actual boxes of rocks) but as long as they speak with passion they gather a following of likewise weak minded souls. The loudest and most passionate gather in the subgroups to add to their own followers.
Collectivism is government for the weak willed and weak minded, the cattle of the human race. There is no wonder they respond to volume and passion, otherwise they would have to THINK.

otherwise they would have to THINK.

Most don't grasp just how far some people will go to avoid thinking. It's an intense terror that if they don't have someone to think for them that their brains will be overwhelmed and they'll never recover. It's like a phobia of the dark and of being alone except if it's dark and alone for too long, it will never be restored.
