The conservative Presbyterian Church in America voted Thursday to disqualify all gay men from serving in its ministry.
The 1,400-400 vote to change its governing document came at the denomination’s 48th General Assembly, held this week in St. Louis.
The rule change, known as “Overture 23,” will go to local church bodies known as “presbyteries” for a vote before a second round of convention balloting next year that would place the language in the denomination’s “Book of Church Order,” which governs PCA practice....

What’s wrong with the 400?
I suspect they would suck at ministerial duties.
Ya think?!?!
How the hell is this news?!?
There is no way you can read the Bible and conclude homosexuality is not a sin...
The article mentions one of their pastors who opposed the resolution, saying he is “same-sex attracted.” I imagine some of their younger members, or parents of gay-identifying grown children may also be virtue-signalling about the issue; but I don’t know. Maybe PCA had some legal challenges from local agitators approaching them for gay marriages or renting their facilities for gay weddings, as happened to the Methodists at Rehoboth Beach.
I had no idea it was such a small denomination; on the other hand, all the mainstreams have shed members like crazy ever since this crap started in the 60s.
The fact that it did go to a vote means the PCA is fatally compromised.
So, what about open homosexuals NOT in the ministry but in this church? Okay?
I would high tail it to the nearest OPC congregation if I were you
It’s a shame this got 400 votes on the opposite side in the PCA
United Methodists are breaking up over gay crap
Southern Baptists will too if Ralph Stanley’s son gets his way
I never thought, that we would see schisms in various denominations over issues of homosexuality.
But that seems to be happening.
I had heard that Methodists in the UK were ready to accept homosexual marriage. I’m sure that will lead to a split, with the “liberal” Methodists who believe in homosexual marriage going one way, and those who believe in traditional marriage retaining more traditional values.
It will be interesting to see, in the years ahead, the membership numbers in the churches who believe in homosexuality, and those who adhere to traditional teachings on the subject.
I guess you’ve never had a ham sandwich.
Who is Ralph Stanley?
My I ask if the 400 who voted for this blasphemy have now been excommunicated? If not, why not?
The PC USA is the liberal branch. My wife and I are members of a PC USA church. Our church happens to be conservative, but at the national level, they are not.
