Israeli warplanes unleashed another wave of heavy airstrikes on the Gaza Strip Monday, destroying about 60 miles of militant tunnels and the homes of nine Hamas commanders — and also killing a senior Islamic Jihad leader, the military said.

IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus told reporters Monday that it had assassinated Hussam Abu Harbeed, who commanded Islamic Jihad’s northern Gaza brigade and led attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians for almost 15 years.

In a statement, the IDF said Harbeed “was behind several anti-tank missile terror attacks against Israeli civilians.” One of those attacks occurred on the first day of the current round of fighting when a civilian was wounded, Conricus said.

The ministry doesn’t specify how many of the dead belonged to Hamas or other terrorist groups.

That is one of those things that people have no idea of until you can actually see it happen.

Stationed in eastern AFG in 2006 and saw/heard/witnessed a JDAM being used on a tunnel complex. The one JDAM fell from a very high altitude, totally silent, until it hit the epicenter of the tunnel complex. Blew up inside the tunnel, not an airburst. The tunnel complex was completely destroyed in both directions with no possible survivors since the entire complex collapsed on itself due to shockwaves and air compression.

Did the after action review and it was a very small crater compared to the massive destruction it caused. Little hole going in, big hole coming out.

Keep destroying the tunnels. The IDF should lay waste to everything 50 to 100 feet away from the wall. Then fill in with water and seed with ill tempered tilapia with laser beams on their heads.
