The leader of a radical eco-extremist group celebrated President Joe Biden canceling the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, even as the move killed thousands of jobs.
Co-founder of 350.org and New Yorker contributor Bill McKibben bellowed in a recent op-ed that “In his first hours in office, Joe Biden has settled—almost certainly, once and for all—one of the greatest environmental battles this country has seen [killing the Keystone XL].” He proceeded to praise how “the story behind that victory illustrates a lot about where we stand in the push for a fair and working planet.” McKibben fawned how he was “very grateful” for Biden’s action before outrageously claiming that the pipeline was “far too closely identified with climate carelessness for a Democratic President to be able to waver.” [Emphasis added.]
But it’s ridiculous to argue that the pipeline was “identified with climate carelessness.” The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board wrote Jan. 20 that “[t]he Obama State Department found five separate times that the pipeline would have no material impact on greenhouse gas emissions since crude would still be extracted.” When you choose to be a fanatic about eco-extremism like McKibben, facts that don’t support your preexisting dispositions tend to fall by the wayside.

So Mr. Bill McKibben .
Will you cancel the gas line to your home or the various restaurants in the area?
Now think of all the TRUCKS that have to drive again from Canada and back instead of just flowing down a pipe like a good crap does:-) Imagine having to fill up a barrel and then calling the sanitation Dept to pick it up and return it:-)
Has he sold his car yet?
So now that oil will have to be transported by rail or truck, causing more emissions and wear and tear on infrastructure. Good news for the rail and trucking oligarchs!
People as stupid as the author reveals himself to be, is the reason he has to write for The New Yorker.
Without the pipeline the crude oil will be transported from Canada to the U. S. by rail which affords more risk to the environment than the Keystone XL Pipeline ever will. This guy McKibben is definitely stuck on stupid. More of the Canadian crude will also flow by pipeline to Canada’s west coast and be loaded on huge oil tankers for the journey to China where it will be processed out of the reach of any U. S. environmental refining and consumption regulations. We have reduced our carbon emissions significantly while both China and Russia have increased theirs. Much of our reductions have been offset by their increases. McKibben can’t figure this out. It must be above his pay grade.
McKibben is a nutbar. Has been for a long time.
I wish he’d retire.
All so very true. Biden has enlisted the Global Warming science community who has existed for the government grant and how much fear they can generate for it. What fuels the grant cycle is the use of grant money to line the pockets of representatives as an incentive to supply more grant money. It’s like pumping more gas into an internal combustion engine with gas siphoned off to feed the pump.
Apparently the pipeline was cancelled to pay off Warren Buffett, who owns the railroads that will be used to transport the oil south now that there will be no pipeline. Or so it is being claimed.

Cancelling the pipeline doesn’t stop the Canadian oil from being used. For the time being that same oil will be transported by trucks and rail with even poorer safety records than a pipeline. If Joe goes all out to ban oil that crude will be sold to China whose environmental record is abysma.
Perhaps it is time for all of the energy producing states to cut off the bums in the northeast.
Wonder if this moron would dance to a different tune without oil or electricity.
Good idea. They’ll be crying like babies in an hour.
