The great convergence of Jupiter and Saturn for the first time in 800 years to form the Christmas Star also happened to converge with the date of this year’s Winter Solstice. And I missed it.
We were under heavy cloud cover with rain so there was no way to catch even a glint of the Christmas Star, which I can’t help but feel is a bit like a bad omen. Anyway, as I missed the Christmas Star I’m left with only the Winter Solstice, Druids and 90 freezing, cold, gray days that will be followed by another 60 days of moderately cold, gray days. I think a bit of an attitude adjustment is in order.
Let’s start by cleaning out all the old cookies.
I’ll help…
Me too.
And replacing them with a few new, butt kicking ones to do battle with the Druids.
Because I have a feeling 2021 is going to quite demanding.
I note that January 6th is also the Feast of the Epiphany, make of it what you will.

Just beautiful!
Lovely!
Except while the occurrence is neat, scriptural references to the star say it appeared in the eastern sky. This appears in the SW sky. From where I sit the “star” is shining over Los Angeles. No savior there.
Two planets lining up is not the Christmas star.
I saw it through the cloud cover.
Not to exciting.
In AZ they did not even align. Maybe they did on the east coast but not in the west. Close but no cigar
Matthew 9 After listening to the king, they went their way. And behold, the star they had seen in the east went on before them, until it came to rest over the place where the Child was.
As can be seen from the passage above the magi probably spent more than one day traveling to Jerusalem from their origins.
Jerusalem to Bethlehem was the short trip.
This conjunction/convergence is not the Christmas star.
Believe, however, as you choose.
In addition, the Greek indicates it was a single star. Not two planets as there are different Greek words for star and planet.
Find it interesting that Trump is planning a conference for this day, Here’s the way way it has been observed.
On This “Little Christmas”
January 6th from my The First Book Of Moses poetry page
On This “Little Christmas”
January 6th
Once Upon a Time and not too long ago
The Twelfth Night Of Christmas
was celebrated with a ball
From the Day of Babes Birth
and the 11 thereafter
kith and kin were paid a visit
and friends from far and near
once were paid a call
So on this day I pray in the spirit that this date recalls
Let the gift of homage of kings gain
in the spirit of the days this season yet remain
ere it wane
Be thine Blessings Great
and misfortunes thee none befall
This poem is an abbreviated version from my websites poetry page which shows how the Christmas season was observed by Catholics in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood during depression times and WWII.The page also lists the differences from traditional Roman Catholic Christmas observance and the present after Vatican 2.Which eliminated a period of mortification during the advent period of fast and abstinence or reducing emphasis on observing feast days such as Immaculate Conception December 8th and the 12th day of Christmas known as the Epiphany January 6th.Resulting in listing Epiphany no longer on most calendars because of the decision to observe Epiphany to a Sunday following Christmas the 25th and New Years which was then known as the feast of Circumcision later named The Presentation when Jesus was presented in the Temple .

I missed it too, due to cloud cover.
I wrote about it this morning:

“Does anything good come out of Bethlehem?"
I’m on the east coast and the alignment was very underwhelming.
Christ?
