Yep, Murky heard footsteps. ACB is an extraordinary nominee, the best since Clarence Thomas IMO (Alito is great too but he lacks ACB’s star quality). It’d be political suicide for any Republican to oppose her. Dollars to doughnuts Collins will also fall in line; if not, her political career is over (it may have been over anyway but being on the wrong side of ACB would definitively close the door).

This is great! Now the court will have 5 conservatives, 3 liberals, and whatever you would call that other guy.

I find it interesting that the swing vote always seems to be a so-called "conservative" judge picked by a "conservative" Republican President:

Reagan: Sandra Day O'Connor
Reagan: Anthony Kennedy
Bush, Jr.: John Roberts

That's 40 consecutive years (and counting) of swing-vote Judges. And BTW, why the heall does there even need to be a swing vote on the Court?

It's interesting that all liberal Democrat Justices are always so hard-line and never budge an inch, and thus are never swing votes. Why is that?

Collins committed to a no vote. She switches now and it just looks calculated.

Did she commit to voting no? I know Collins is in a tough re-election fight. Did she promise a no vote to try to help her re-election in liberal Maine???? Well, her fate will be decided November 3rd. We will see how these political vote calculations work out for her.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine is the only one who says she will not vote for Amy Barrett. I hope, seriously hope, that the people of Maine see her for what she really is at election time.

For not having done the right thing in the beginning, there is NO forgiveness.

It may be political suicide for a lot of Democrats to oppose her, too. That’s why Schumer wanted to delay the vote until after Election Day even if he knew he couldn’t block the confirmation.

I suspect it’s because most Ivy League lawyers who work in the public sector are really leftists at heart even if they don’t act that way for most of their careers.

Neil Gorsuch is likely to be the next one to slide over to the dark side. Maybe it’s just me, but I always thought he had “latent homosexual” written all over him.

I think her career is over at this point, Maine seems to be losing its appetite for quixotic RINO politicians.

I’ll never forget the O’Connor nomination. I used to work with her niece and she came in to work one morning and told us how she answered the phone at her Aunt Sandy’s and President Reagan was on the phone. This was when he nominated her.

Move the Supreme Court to Peoria, Illinois. That way, Justices won't be able to meet with their Democratic friends for cocktail hour.

While we're at it, we should build the new headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. That'll give them motivation to clean up the city.

When have Alito or Thomas ever budged an inch? When did Scalia? Real conservative justices are just as hard core as the liberal justices are.

So do I. The liberal squishes of Maine need to see her as an occasional liberal worth re-electing to office. So we can keep one Maine Senate seat Republican against the odds for another 6 years. Given that Maine hasn’t given a majority to a GOP presidential candidate since Bush Sr, that’s quite a feat:
