Because he was the one candidate who could peel off the most centrist voters, over all the other candidates. He was the perfect "Trojan Horse", at least, that was the idea.
Agree. If he was a 'nice guy', he wouldn't be extorting money from his son. He's survived as long as he has in American politics because he is NOT a nice guy. Further, he stands right now as the candidate of those who want to end the United States as the nation we know and love. Truly, this is what he represents.

But he only said nice guy once and was referring to what some are going to be responding back with (nice, honest, decent guy) in an effort to shut down the investigation, and he followed it with but don’t you want to know the truth???? And Geraldo is a Democrat so this is big coming from him.
