Victors justice was never better served than this date in 1946, when the brass of Third Reich hung for crimes against humanity during the late World War II. The landmark legal proceeding* is covered well enough in many other sources for this humble venue to break new ground. Apart from trailblazing international law, the trial was notable for the gut-punching film of German atrocities; this relatively novel piece of evidence is available for perusal thanks to the magic of the Internet. Caution: Strong stuff. An hours worth of Nazi atrocities. The climactic hangings in the predawn hours this day in Nuremberg were conducted by an American hangman who used the American standard drop rather than the British table calibrated for efficacious neck-snapping. As a result, at least some hangings were botched strangulation jobs, a circumstance which has occasionally attracted charges of intentional barbarism.
Media eyewitness Kingsbury Smiths taut report of the nights executions (well worth the full read) described just such an ugly end for propagandist Julius Streicher...

Whenever. Each time. The news is very very ominous for democrats, Nazi news takes over
I always remember that, though Nazis WOULD have killed 56 million innocents, Democrats HAVE killed 56 million innocents and are looking for more.
We will need our own version of this. After the war. Maybe it will be called The Swamp Trials. Since DC is such a swamp, literally and figuratively.
That’s what I am thinking too.
The trials can be televised and take the place of sports and most tv series.
There will probably be the need for multiple channels to cover simultaneous trials.
Many of the YouTubers whose accounts were cancelled today can serve as commentators.
Crimes Against Humanity taking place right now. Anybody going to be held accountable?
LADY MACBETH
Out, damned spot! out, I say! One: two: why,
Then, ‘tis time to do’t.Hell is murky!Fie, my
Lord, fie! a soldier, and afeard? What need we
Fear who knows it, when none can call our power to
Account?Yet who would have thought the old man
To have had so much blood in him.

There’s an excellent British historian on You Tube by the name of Mark Felton. He does fantastic videos on little known subjects dealing with WW2 . Worth looking into.
BUMP history repeats itself.
Nice bump. Interesting read. Thx.
Lady Macbeth thought that murder was no big deal in the abstract but once the deed was done she could not handle the guilt.
An interesting switcheroo.
Speaking of killing more innocents, I dare anyone to watch this new, well-documented report and not be more spooked than ever:

I’m rather young so may just be unaware...but has the Nuremberg Trials ever received a film treatment of the subject matter? (Not documentary, but cinematic/Hollywood...)
Yes. Judgement at Nuremberg. It’s from 1960 and won lots of Oscars
There was a feature film made in 1961 called “Judgment at Nuremburg” that you might want to take a look at.

Thank you both. I will put that on my “to see” list.
You’re welcome!
{Thomas Joseph} Dodd was elected as a Democrat to the House of Representatives in 1952, and served two terms. He lost a Senate election in 1956 to Prescott S. Be warned: Alec Baldwin plays Robert Jackson, the lead prosecutor.
I just watched Feltons take on Goerings cheating of the hangman. Do you believe that the U S army officer unwittingly smuggled in the suicide capsule to him? Felton covers many topics you generally have heard little or nothing about.
There were three people being hanged...two men and a woman. They were hooked up...together...on some kind of pole and when the guy gave the signal they were slowly lifted into the air by a huge construction crane.
The woman managed to get out of her handcuffs and was flailing around madly for a couple of minutes. But the guys on either side of her didn't seem to mind.
