In case you haven’t heard, there’s a newly emerged disease going around under the name Covid-19.
While much of the world’s attention is currently placed squarely on this new pathogenic threat, it isn’t the only disease that’s emerging (or re-emerging) and looming over the fate of humanity.
In a bid to highlight these risks, the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has produced a map that shows the newly emerging diseases and re-emerging diseases that the world is currently facing, and where.
The map shows some well known old enemies that are currently resurging in some parts of the world, such as cholera, measles, typhoid fever, Ebola, and diphtheria, and a number of newly emerging, often lesser-known, threats like Akhmeta virus, Hendra virus, Bourbon virus, and a range of new influenza strains.

I am actually wondering how long it will take for those who’ve been staying hidden in their homes to succumb to something, either SARS-CoV-2 or something else.
Does anyone know how long immunity to normal pathogens last if you don’t ever go outside your home? Surely it must be more than a few months.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
The false positive rate was 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

Viruses/’bugs’ mutate VERY rapidly. ‘Bugs’, good and bad, have been battling since Adam and Eve first sinned. It is, and always has been, a microbial ‘arms race’ as good and bad ‘bugs’ battle. As science has developed treatments, cures and vaccines, the ‘bugs’ have evolved, sometimes with the help of governments (Soviet work on smallpox that is immune to treatment) seeking to weaponizing disease. Only upon Christ’s return, will the Earth be healed.

Some of those diseases never left. They’ve been here all this time, but someone wants to upset the gentlemen at their breakfasts. So they made up this map. Good one, too. Few diseases can be stopped by masks.
