PRINCETON FACULTY LETTER DEMANDS END TO ACADEMIC FREEDOM
Powerline ^ | 8 July 2020 | Paul Mirengoff

On July 4, a group of more than 400 Princeton faculty members and (from the look of it) hangers-on sent a letter the college’s president and other leaders on the subject of “anti-black racism.” After a few perfunctory and unsupported allegations about this phenomenon, the authors proceed to the business at hand. They present several dozen “demands.”

Each demand seems more outlandish than the last until, finally, we get to the apogee:

Constitute a committee composed entirely of faculty that would oversee the investigation and discipline of racist behaviors, incidents, research, and publication on the part of faculty, following a protocol for grievance and appeal to be spelled out in Rules and Procedures of the Faculty. Guidelines on what counts as racist behavior, incidents, research, and publication will be authored by a faculty committee for incorporation into the same set of rules and procedures.

Thus, as Zaid Jilani tweeted, the faculty letter “calls for eliminating academic freedom via a committee that would review all publications for racist thought (racist defined by the committee).”

Take a look at the list of signatories. Princeton certainly has a large faculty of gender and sexuality studies. And African-American studies. No wonder tuition is so high.

And no wonder graduates are incapable of doing anything useful.

American universities are a disgrace and not worth the tuition they demand.

The intellectuals yet Idiots at these elite so called universities do not want any opposing views in lectures, on line or via books.

I’d like to see Princeton do away with tenure.

They're too late. Academic freedom ended long ago. It was eroded insidiously, so no one noted a definitive point in time at which it happened. But it did happen. Those faculty whose thoughts and beliefs stray from the accepted leftist dogma can only speak in whispers, or they will be ostracized and destroyed.

My suggestion is that all of us with specific skill sets think about contributing our knowledge to online classes that circumvent the pseudo intellectual establishment. Who says that parents need to spend $35,000 - $65,000 per year to send their kids to universities whose faculty hate us and want to indoctrinate our children?

I look at this as a time for a reformation. The ironic truth of our current world is that those who espouse intellectualism are actually the same people who have created a modern ‘dark age’, in which intellectual freedom and the exchange of ideas is not welcomed - unless ‘officially sanctioned’ by the pseudo-intellectuals. It's time to throw them out, entirely out of any positions of power or influence in society.

So why would anyone pay $50k a year to go to a racist school like that? Oh, I know. They figure that if they get a degree from and Ivy League school like that they will step into a $100k a year job after graduation. That probably only works if they get a government job.

The solution is for Princeton to close down those degree programs, then “let go” of those “professors” (professional grievance workers)

That is the way it is now in universities.
A good friend of mine doing postdoc research at a major Canadian university was ordered to sign off on some bogus data by her boss. She refused. She got blacklisted.
