Jimmy Carter single handedly destroyed the boating industry when he imposed the 25% luxury tax......factories closed, boat sales plummeted

The number of people that went that route *we taken all the courses and passed all the tests”) believing they were qualified and subsequently either needed rescue or just disappeared is large.

Much of my recreational life is centered around boats and fishing. I have been blessed with the luxury of being able to choose where I work and live to support my salty addictions.

While boating is enjoying some growth, the industry admits its difficult to entice MillennialsYou mean the kids that spent 8 years in college getting worthless degrees to avoid work and racked up debt that doesn't allow them to make investments?

Boats, like cars, have become far more expensive to own and operate than in previous generations.

I grew up around boats. We lived on a sizeable lake (Lake Washington) and as kids to teens always had a couple of rowboats or skiffs around. In high school we would often get up and go water skiing before leaving for school.
My dad’s pride n joy was a 33ft Uniflite cabin cruiser. Outfitted with twin 390 Interceptor engines she easily did 50mph. I was allowed to take the Uni for a one of a kind honeymoon.
Unfortunately priorities - and circumstances change and we left the boating world. I do miss it.

We had a 14ft Lund boat with a rinky dink 9hp motor at the grandparents cabin to use.
Looked like this but motor smaller and slower.
