2020 Walmart pulls Guns, Ammo From Shelves: Excuse? Riots!

U.S.A.-(AmmoLand.com)- A stop at the local Walmart on 3 June, 2020, revealed an empty gun display. No guns were inside the locked display. There were no cartridges available, other than shotgun bird shot.

Walmart had been trending toward gradual elimination of guns from its inventory for years, ever since the death of the founder, Sam Walton, in 1992.

Sam discouraged merchandise which was not made in the USA. Sam insisted each store carry firearms, including handguns. When Sam was not there to enforce those policies, the leftists who took over the company used each new “crisis” to remove firearms and ammunition from the store.

In the 1990s, Walmart stopped selling handguns in all its stores, except in Alaska. In 2015, Walmart ended sales of modern sporting rifles.

On September 3, 2019, Walmart announced it would no longer sell handguns in Alaska,  handgun ammunition in all stores, or the nebulously defined “assault weapons”.

Two Walmart associates at the store said the firearms had been removed from the display because of national concerns over riots.

This policy was confirmed with articles in several outlets. From chainstoreage.com:

Walmart has been bowing to political pressure to reduce its inventory of firearms for 25 years.

No problem, my store of choice is the Academy in Lewisville, TX. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff.

I was at my Acadamy sports the other day. Nothing much to be had anyway. No .223 available. Only 5.56 was 500 rd. box for $180. Didn’t see any 45 cal or 9mm.

Used to be a great place to pick up a brick of .22s, or a white box 100 pack of FMJ 9mm for plinking. Gun stores around here gouge you for that stuff.

Yep. They’ve emptied the gun and ammo display cases at our local Walmart here in NE Florida too. Did it at least a couple of weeks ago.

I dunno, I think it’s kind of prudent.

OTOH - Walmart obviously doesn’t want black people to have guns so that racist.

If anyone doesn’t have everything they need by now, it’s on them.

I don't see the problem. Walmart has never had anything I would want to own.
If your local gun shop doesn't have it,they will order it for you. Looks like a Win/Win to me.

That could well be a legitimate excuse...IF it was just in areas where riots have occurred or might occur and IF they return them once things have quieted down.

I was at the Cabela’s near my house on Friday - there was no ammo to pull from the shelf - it was sold out. They had a few boxes of .22 left. plus a long line of people waiting to buy guns.

Every time I go into a Walmart, it’s like shopping in Bizarro World. All the dregs are there, stretching their food and household products dollar so they have enough leftover for weed, meth and booze.

At mine it’s illegals with EBT cards. They’re doing quite well for themselves.

Maybe you need to move. My local WalMart is filled with normal people leading normal lives.

I’d rather go to my local guy anyway. Expertise, great service and profits don’t go to some multi-billionare globalist leftards.

Driving brand new $60,000+ trucks. I’ve seen things that don’t make any sense to me.

Wal Mart, to my knowledge, has totally stopped selling all pistol and intermediate cartridges. When I tried to get rounds a while ago, she said they will no longer be selling any handgun or “assault rifle” ammunition going forward. That’s the ONLY use I ever had for Wal mart, and now they just cater to Fudds.

They know what’s coming.

1. Riots in commercial areas.
2. Police stand down.
3. Riots in residential areas.
4. Residents defend themselves from looting hoards.
5. Media blames guns.

I went to our local Walmart a couple of weeks ago and noticed the gun cabinets all empty.

Went a few days ago and noticed the cabinets again full of guns. Just no “A-s-s-ault rifles.”
