On this date (by the Julian calendar then in use) in 1389, Stefan Lazar Hrebeljanovic thats Tsar Lazar to you led the armies of Moravian Serbia against the expanding Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Kosovo. The Serbs were defeated thereby plunging, in the national mythology, into a half-millennium of Turkish domination. Lazar was supposedly* captured and beheaded.

The Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates Vidovdan on June 28, which is June 15 on the Old Calendar.
All martyrs who have given their lives for Serbia are also remembered on that day.

Was, but the Serbs didn’t bother having kids, and so the Muslims went from a minority to 90% of the population...and Serbia was needed by the Dems and their Republican butt-lickers as a safe punching bag - so Serbia lost.
There’s a lesson there.
HUGE LESSON - but we (collectively) sat on our asses and did nothing when this crap was happening all through Western society.
