New Surveillance Video Shows George Floyd Moments Before He Died – It Looks Like He Is Not Resisting

Yesterday a video surfaced from George Floyd as he was pinned down by a cop and later died.

It happened Monday night, when cops were responding to a “forgery in progress.” Police arrived and saw the suspect sitting in a car. According to the Department, the man resisted arrest so he was placed in handcuffs, adding “he appeared to be suffering medical distress.”

This has caused tensions around the country and things are not looking good.

The Minneapolis Police Department first requested an independent investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and later contacted the FBI as well after the force received additional information that indicated the incident “could be a question of civil rights,” Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said Tuesday.

Floyd’s family has reportedly retained the services of Benjamin Crump, a well-known civil rights attorney who previously represented the family of Michael Brown, a black teenager whose 2014 killing by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, helped propel the Black Lives Matter movement into national prominence.

Arradondo announced that four officers involved in the incident had been fired Tuesday afternoon, which Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said was “the right call.”

But a new video from a surveillance camera has surfaced and it might cause more tensions.

A nearby restaurant, Dragon Wok, captured the initial moments of George’s run-in with Minneapolis police on a camera set up outside. Based on the video, this started as a traffic stop of some sort, which ended with George being led away in cuffs.

The video shows 2 vehicles parked curbside, and eventually, 2 officers approach one of the cars and ask everyone to step out. A man and a woman emerge from the passenger side, while George is taken out by another officer on the driver’s side … seemingly struggling at first.

The cops get George to stand up and lead him over to the sidewalk where they sit him down. He isn’t doing a whole lot of resisting the rest of the way.

Two of the cops fired over the arrest of black man George Floyd have already been investigated for their roles in previous use-of-force incidents, it’s been revealed.

Derek Chauvin, 44, the officer filmed kneeling on Floyd’s neck during his arrest, is a 19-year veteran of the force who was investigated over a fatal police shooting in 2006.

Chauvin was investigated for his role in the 2008 shooting of Ira Latrell Toles during a domestic assault call. Toles was wounded after police said he went for an officer’s gun and Chauvin shot him.

Two years earlier Wayne Reyes, 42 was killed by officers after allegedly pulling a shotgun on the six cops, which included Chauvin, The Star Tribune reports.

A second officer involved in Monday’s arrest, Tou Thao, is said to been part of a $25,000 out of court settlement after being sued for using excessive force in 2017.

In a lawsuit obtained by the DailyMail.com shows Thao was sued for using excessive force in an arrest where he was accused of punching and kicking a handcuffed suspect ‘until his teeth broke’. In any case, there is no need for people to spark racial tension as an Asian-American was also involved in the case. this is just police brutality and it’s something that needs to concern all of us no matter the race!

I don't care that 'police procedure' has given cover for all sorts of incidents. Never put someone in a choke hold or put your knee on someone's neck.

Until all of these acts are outlawed, this will happen again and again.

I can not help it when I hear about the Gentle Giant, thinking of this wonderful poem by this wonderful poet. OK, well, it’s a poem. Sort of.

He’ll Never Row His Boat To Shore!
The Saga of Michael Brown

There was a store in Ferguson town
With grocery goods and meats.
And in one day strolled Michael Brown,
Who stole some Swisher Sweets.

To mix tobacco with some pot
Is what he meant to do.
Though smoking certainly is not
A healthy thing to do.

Abetted in this robbery
By his friend D. Johnson,
Who then would tell a great big lie
As soon as it was done.

And thus began the fatal chain
All across the nation.
Just like those things that happen in
Final Destination.

The post-death autopsy, it found
Michael weighed three hundred,.
And he would throw his weight around.
Getting what he wanted.

Meanwhile an innocent white cop
Was out there on patrol,
When he made a 10-20 stop,
On Michael on a stroll.

Officer Wilson was his name
Just 26 years old.
A man with no real claim to fame,
Who did what he was told.

He requested that Michael halt,
And step out of the road.
What happened next was Michel’s fault
As to the car he strode!

Reaching through the window with
His gentle giant paw.
Brown punched Wilson in the head
Before he even saw!

Then Brown then tried to steal his gun
To shoot Poor Wilson dead.
But even though Wilson was stunned,
This brave man kept his head!

Michael Brown was so much bigger
Still Wilson kept his gun,
And though dazed, he pulled the trigger.
This was shot number one.

Brown then backed away and ran,
But then turned back around,
Then madly charged the policeman
So Wilson shot him down.

Wilson plugged him six more times!
And only then Brown stopped.
Was he high, or was it his crimes?
Or Suicide by Cop?

Brown lay there in the blood and gore,
As people gathered round.
He’ll never row his boat to shore.
He will not make a sound.

Meanwhile Johnson lied that Wilson
Shot Brown down like a brute,
While Brown kneeled, his hands to the sun
And begging, “Please don’t shoot!”

Johnson’s lies got spread all around
And caused an angry mob.
Poor Wilson got run out of town,
Just for doing his job.

Then, a grand jury heard the case,
With all the evidence.
Finding Johnson was way off base
And Wilson’s innocence.

But still the lie was spread around
There wasn’t justice yet.
Criminal blacks burned down the town,
Lest we forget! Lest we forget!

This is a saga about the recent events in Ferguson. I believe I have a unique perspective, because I am an assistant manager at a convenience store, and there are all kinds of mean people who come in and dare you to stop them from stealing things.

On a side note, if find it inquisitive as to why these reporters decided to refer to the decedent by his first name in the article.

Once a PD has had to make a payout because of an officer’s conduct, that cop should be sacked permanently and not be allowed to do any LE work anywhere.

Payouts are made for a lot of reasons and not necessarily because the LEO is guilty of misconduct, particularly under 42 U.S.C.A. §1983, which authorizes the jury to award punitive damages and attorney's fees in addition to compensatory damages. Payouts made to settle the case are often a hedge against a potentially larger damage award if the case were to go to trial, fueled by the jury's emotions, demographic profile, hatred of LEO, etc. even in cases where the alleged misconduct and liability are questionable.

Agree 100%. Police need to be men of the highest moral character. With the amount of police in this country, I doubt there are enough moral men to fill the slots.

I would like to see a return to walking your beat. Get to know those you are serving. Have a vested interest in the people you protect.

“Why they put him on the ground after he was in handcuffs and standing by a wall is still unexplained. “

To me there has always been an element of deliberate humiliation here. Cops didn’t used to do this. Just a guess but these days there are a great many people on police forces who have no hope of controlling a grown man if he doesn’t want to be. So they alter “training” to lower risk.

In this environment today, why would men of the highest moral character even want to be policemen? This is one of the things Leftist social engineering has achieved.

It probably killed him because he was already in poor health. In any case, these cops picked the wrong moment. carelessly apply force.

I would suggest watching the original 9 minute plus video and judge for yourself. About halfway down this link

https://www.google.com/amp/s/fox6now.com/2020/05/26/african-american-man-dies-after-video-shows-minneapolis-police-officer-kneeling-on-neck/amp/

Be warned this video is very disturbing. A man dies before your eyes, with bystanders (including an off duty first responder) begging the police to at least check for a pulse after the man goes limp.

Minneapolis is where a muzzy cop murdered an Australian woman. I’d say the police force needs federal oversight and investigation.

Complaining of difficulty breathing? Chalk it up as another coronavirus case and call it a day.

“It probably killed him because he was already in poor health.”

Therefore, a person in poor health cannot be murdered?

Positional asphyxia. They should at the very least have uncuffed him, rolled him over, and started CPR after everyone informed them that he was dead.

The video you refer to does not show what happen before he was put on the ground.

It wasn’t careless, it was quite deliberate and they were taunting him also. These were four strong looking men, btw, and he was already handcuffed and lying on the ground. He started bleeding from the nose while the cop was standing on his neck.

There are simply bad, power crazed cops, who are probably feeling quite emboldened right now from their success in enforcing stay at home orders against people doing such dangerous activities as waking their dog, kayaking alone, sitting on a swing...

Two of these cops had several excessive use of force complaints against them, just like the Somali cop about two years ago who shot the white woman who was the one who had actually called them. He was so bad nobody wanted to ride with him. But MPD kept him on. So it’s a structural rot as well.
