Americans hoping for the next round of coronavirus relief will probably be waiting for weeks - if not much longer
Though House Democrats on Friday passed a sweeping, $3 trillion stimulus bill built around aid for local governments and a fresh batch of direct payments to the public, the Republican Senate majority has no immediate plans to produce an alternative. Instead, senators are expected to consider a handful of lifetime judicial appointments this week and then head home for the Memorial Day recess.
Theres basically zero bipartisan talk among congressional leaders right now in Washington about what to do next. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have no plans to hash out their differences, primarily because they dont even agree on whether a bill is needed immediately. President Donald Trump is noncommittal.
While McConnell and many of his members have conceded that another bill is likely at some point, the Kentucky Republican says he doesnt yet feel the urgency to spend more money after Congress has delivered nearly $3 trillion in aid already. Senate Republicans see the next exhaustion of the Paycheck Protection Program, perhaps in late May or June, as a potential impetus for putting forward their own vision.
In terms of what the timing would look like, I suspect that doesnt happen until sometime after Memorial Day, said Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.).

All the more reason to get people back to work.
Judges judges judges.
No bailouts for deep blue states on perpetual suicidal lockdowns.
House Democrats on Friday passed a sweeping, $3 trillion stimulus bill built around aid for local governments”
What BS this turd is nothing but a guarantee the rats are never out of power again and these lying scumbags know it.
Continue to open things up!
I wish there were more attention given to the fact that they have moved the goalposts on us.
Lockdowns were done in order to flatten the curve in order to see the hospitals and health care providers were not overwhelmed.
We have succeeded in flattening the curve and it’s excellent news the hospitals have not been overwhelmed with a virus patients.
But now the liberal view has morphed into saying that we need to maintain lockdowns until we have medical treatments and or a vaccine for this virus.
That was never the original intent of the lockdowns.
Since we have achieved the goal that was set out originally the lockdown should end because we succeeded in the mission of flattening the Curve.
But the media, with all of their angst about this virus, are not reporting the success of the mission very much. Instead they have decided to push the narrative that the goalposts need to move and that we need to eradicate this virus before things get back to normal.
Congress is worthless.
We cant open until Nancy has finished her ice cream.
I could care less what she does or doesn’t do. Just go over her.
The only thing Congress ought to be passing right now if WuFlu-related civil liability protection for biz large to small.
Leftists are complete oafs...but, persistent in their “oaf-ery”. IF this multi-trillion wish list from these LIB lunatics passes in ANY form, it should be vetoed.
Pelosi will block any civil liability protections for business, unless you give in to the rats demands. Hell no.
Do it state by state. Start with red states, then try the purple. The economic contrast between red vs blue ensures victory in November.
Where was this done before? Tort liability reform, Mississippi among others did it and businesses moved to their states nd away from rat states.
Remember when Nancy deferred the first stimulus bill until she got her way ? And how Chuck Schemer insisted that $3 billion to fill the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve at record low oil prices, get removed?
Not a peep from the Lugenpresse.
Instead, senators are expected to consider a handful of lifetime judicial appointments.
Excellent.

Unemployment is not spiking. New cases are getting progressively smaller, and smaller. In case everyone at Politico and MSN is too stupid to count, when you tell people they can’t work, they don’t work. It’s as simple as that. Whenever they are told they can go back to work, they will.
