Horowitz: Moving goalposts: Oregon governor now demanding COVID-19 cases drop BELOW flu levels to reopen

If you think the coronavirus fascism will die with the flattening of the coronavirus curve, I have a wet market to sell you in Wuhan.

It’s becoming abundantly clear that the lockdown was not a temporary, unprecedented strategy to flatten the curve, but is a pretext to use a dramatically low threshold of risk to continue crushing liberty, the economy, and releasing criminals from prison. The tyrannical governors are essentially saying that in order to end any lockdown and even move towards targeted mitigation, we must test everyone every day before they are allowed to breathe, that there must be almost no cases of COVID-19 around (even if there are few deaths outside nursing homes), and that we must contact-trace and monitor society with a police state even after the virus has already reached tens of millions of people.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown announced this week that each county must submit a plan to reopen and must also show that its COVID-19 illnesses are less than the historic average of flu cases seen at this time of year.

This is a state that has just 115 deaths, 60% of which have been in senior living homes. Most of the recent deaths have been in nursing homes and similar facilities. Overall, 81% of all deaths were people with serious underlying conditions. We are literally talking about a handful of people outside nursing homes dying in the entire state, which by itself demonstrates that this has a very low fatality rate for most people, yet the governor is focused on the number of overall cases, which is enormous.

So now the goalposts have moved, from flattening the curve of hospitalizations to flattening the total cases and then to bringing them below flu levels.

Many governors are extending the lockdowns despite nearly all the recent deaths occurring in nursing homes. Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey made it clear that the lockdown has no timeline

“whether you like it or not.”

These types will not go away unless force is used.

At what point will the Feds get involved? Never because Trump has said in the past he is leaving it up to the states. Trump does not care that people starve, lose their jobs, and their homes. This does not show leadership.

Kate Brown is unfit for office, has always been unfit for office, and will always be unfit for office.

One more time...Oregon has a recall statute.

In fact, the very first one ever passed in the United States. Way back in 1908.

Time for the Stupid Party to wake up and get the game going.

It's quite clear the Dem playbook is to keep the economy in ruins un til the election in the hope of defeating Trump.

Trump needs to keep pushing and remind everyone that it's the Dems who are keeping businesses closed and people under house arrest.

Let’s not forget the sissypants recall effort. With the requirements being what they are to get it certified, probably not gonna make it. 25% of those that voted are needed. Not registered, actually voted.

By the end of this summer blue States on the East and West Coast will have lost anywhere from 8 to 12% of their population and anything from 15 to 22% of their businesses. The Exodus of people who actually want to work and get ahead from their efforts is underway.
By the time the election rolls around the red States will be redder than ever and the blue States will be ice cold blue and a Civil War between the States will be the blue States attempting choke off the red States who actually produce all the food and will actually produce most of the manufacturing worldwide for everything that is needed for free people to maintain their infrastructure.

This will not go well for democrats as trump will win every state he won in the previous election the economy will be roaring back in all the red States and in some of the blue States that may yetcturn purple..
After the election the good president will have more flexibility in dealing with his enemies and with the enemies of the American people both foreign and domestic but I’m guessing the domestic are gonna get it with both barrels, politically speaking and legally.

It's weird now, to be in an open state and making restaurant reservations and planning finishing garden planting on Sunday after church, putting this weekend's last-frost-of-the-season behind us tomorrow, and thinking about getting the boat out, and considering one of GA's border islands for vacay if DeSantis doesn't get his sh!t together pronto, and seeing much less and less in local news about 'new cases' and other #Plandemic garbage, and then read an article like this.

Total cognitive dissonance. It's like Oregon is on the moon.

What little conservative remnant is left there, suggest you take Gov. Brown's middle finger for real and move.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown probably does not understand Economics 101, in addition to her lack of common sense, and her lack of ability to practically apply abstract reasoning.

She might change her mind when she realizes that there is a connection between State income tax revenues and employment levels. The problem seems to exist with Democrat controlled states.

Sounds like some states are competing to see who can close down the most businesses.
