Speaking to Fox News Geraldo Rivera on his radio show, Pence, who is chair of the White House coronavirus task force, was optimistic about some states being able to reopen by the holiday.
Am I going to be on my boat and fishing in early June, Mr. Vice President? Rivera asked.
If you look at the trends today, I think by Memorial Day Weekend we will largely have this coronavirus epidemic behind us, said Pence. State and local officials will begin to reopen activities, youre going to see states ahead here begin to do that.
In Georgia, Republican Gov. Brian Kemp plans to reopen some businesses, including gyms, barbershops and nail salons, on Friday though the administration disagrees with their rush to do so. President Trump said that the reopening is a violation of the Phase I guidelines that the administration has put out.
The White House is pushing for states to abide by a three-part plan to reopen, which they would like to begin when the state has 14 days of declining new infections.
Earlier on Thursday, Pence said that sixteen states have unveiled formal plans to lift their coronavirus restrictions.
At the present moment, 16 states have released formal reopening plans, Pence said during the a White House press briefing. States are beginning to make those plans and were encouraged to see so many states embracing the phased approach to reopening their economies thats contemplated in our guidelines for opening up America again.
Memorial Day? Pence must be listening to Fauci and Birx.
4th of July.
That’s when people need to know this is beat.
Labor Day, if lucky.
I was somewhat skeptical when this was reported late this morning. Since then, another post reported a CBS story (which was wrong) which included a link to this site:
https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/wisconsin
You can pick your state and find a graph of daily deaths. The three states I checked were all beyond their peaks. Wisconsin passed their peak 18 days ago.
This is very good news since death rates lag infection rates by around 1.5 weeks.
Seeing this, I believe that Pence may be correct. (Except for the Democrat governor holdouts.)
Pay no attention to that 30% unemployment rate. We successfully postponed the next Covid-19 outbreak to October.
Beat? Define it. It will never be. Destroy everything by then. NONSENSE Open up the country now. This is unconstitutual. July? Are you nuts? Nothing to comeback to by then. Nosense.
That is too vague.
I think most of the country that is under lockdown is ready to say fork it come May 1.
NYC and NJ and a few places are special cases. But they have pi$$ed all over themselves. No reason for healthy, non-infected people in most states and counties to be forced into even more protracted house arrest.
This country has gone from giving illegals money, sanctuary and government entitlements to essentially detaining citizens and depriving them of most rights.
Trump has a damntough job and I think he has earned the trust of many over the last three years. I hope I am right.
July 4th is a very good metric.
Emotionslly and practically.
What do you suggest?
How about ending the lockdowns NOW?
Right now. No delays. Immediately.
This whole lockdown thing is a great big con. It’s as simple as that. Did you watch Tucker Carlson last night?
I said it. Did you miss it? NOW.Think with your mind, not your heart.
Big diffeeence in vasious areas.
We have ‘various areas’ in US.
I like July 4th as a deadline.
LOL!
Aw, try to participate. To be a participant.
Memorial Day has it’s attractions, but I believe some areas of the country will still be having problems.
Participate? While I know so many out of a job and businesses going bankrupt? Is that your idea of “participating?” Are you really that dense? Don’t mind responding.
Exactly! The Lockdowns were for the purpose of getting ahead of the curve to prepare the health system for the massive spike-which never came. It was not to live in fear of the virus until it was eliminated.
By July 4th there won’t be a nation left. How many more stimulus packages do you think we are going to need?
First of all 8 states never had any statewide lockdowns or no lockdowns at all, including South Dakota. They don’t need to open up cause they never shut down.
How many coronavirus deaths does South Dakota have? Exactly 9 ( I just checked at Worldometer).
How many deaths does New York State have with all their strict lockdowns? Nearly 21,000.
Who is better off in every way including economically? South Dakota.
