President Trump said Wednesday that he has instructed the U.S. Navy to “shoot down and destroy” Iranian vessels that harass American ships at sea.
“I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea,” Trump tweeted.

When IRGC speedboats harry U.S. warships, it is tempting to conclude Trump’s ‘maximum pressure’ campaign against the Islamic Republic is failing. But think of how much more aggressive and reckless Iran would be without sanctions.

There is a 5 inch gun on the deck of the American ship, making the speed boats, afternoon target practice. The US Navy said Wednesday that 11 Iranian boats “conducted dangerous and harassing approaches” and that the IRGCN boats crossed the bows and sterns of the US ships repeatedly, at one point closing to within 10 yards of one of the cutters. To understand the true impact of the sanctions on Tehran’s behavior, imagine how much more dangerous and provocative Iran would have been in their absence.
Without the economic sanctions, Iran’s rulers would by now have had access to tens of billions of dollars in assets and revenues from trade with the world, the economic dividend it was promised, in exchange for limiting its nuclear program, in the 2015 deal with the world powers. Given the regime’s longstanding ambitions for dominance of the Middle East — as well as its paranoia about the Western presence there — much of this windfall would have gone into military spending.

Old times: President Trump reportedly drew back from attack against Iranians because he wanted to show mercy and avoid unnecessarily killing people over one incident.
New time today: I’m really busy. Blast them to hell if they cross the line again. I don’t have time for this stuff.
I wish he would have ALREADY made that the standing order.
But now we can watch to see their actions, and if they stay away we can call them the p*****s they are, if they come too close, we can destroy them... win/win.

I remember Trump declaring he was going to kill some Iranians, and Nazi Pelosi and Chuck Schumer acted all giddy about it.
They clearly had SOMETHING in mind in reaction, and Trump was too smart to give them what they wanted.

Or, maybe just Mrs. Ma Duce. A 30 foot Speed boat would be devastated by a .50 machine gun. Especially with incendiary bullets.
They got away with some of their **** when Obongo was in office. They are testing Trump. If they keep it up, it won’t end well for them.
And I don’t see any “speed” either. The Iranian boat is stopped. I imagine these encounters happen all the time and there’s a set of unwritten rules the Iranians follow. I suspect Trump, unlike Obama, has given these US ships broad RoE.
The US Sailors could have ruined this Iranian propaganda video by waving to them.
I think we can safely say there are multiple options which would make things rather unpleasant for folks in those speedboats.
The Iranian Coast needs to be made a Boat Free Zone.
