Lee is out of his mind.

Paul is being consistent but as Emmerson said: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of a small mind...”

Rand is my senator. Thomas Massie is my rep. Massie carries a 95+ conservative rating and is as good as it gets 98% of the time but then will do ridiculous sh!t like this. I can’t figure out what gets into these two.

[[I think they were given a crappy briefing,]]

Except that everyone else in attendance wouldn’t agree-

It sounds like what they want is an actual briefing and description of the threat. Instead, the intel community (the same Intel community that told us Trump was a Russian spy) briefers blew them off.

“Is it possible the briefings are now marginalized in committee because of a lack of trust for some of the other participants?”

Good question.

No, if two Republican Senators felt like it was crappy enough to say something, the others are cowards and just sit there and accept it in silence.

Rand is still stuck on every time the military fires a shot there must be a declaration of war. He totally ignores the France/US naval wars, the Barbary Wars fought by the founding fathers without declarations of war. Throw in all the Indian wars in the west as well. Congress should be involved at some point in any military shooting war, but declarations of war for missile strikes?

Lee, bless his corrupt heart, I had high hopes for him but he went to Washington and drank the Potomac Kool-aid by the gallon and he and McRomney are a stain on decency and the epitome of everything that is wrong with the Republican Party. If this wing of the party doesn’t die by 2024 the Republicans will NEVER win another presidential election. This branch of the GOP hasn’t done a damned thing since 1989 aside from the Contract with America and they had to be dragged kicking and screaming to support that.

(the same Intel community that told us Trump was a Russian spy)

They are the ones that need to be investigated.

That’s not exactly true about the Barbary Pirates War. Congress clearly authorized the president to conduct it, and raise the Navy specifically for that very purpose, along with the enabling legislation for the president to conduct operations.

Congress passed naval legislation that, among other things, provided for six frigatesthat “’shall be officered and manned as the President of the United States may direct.’ ... In the event of a declaration of war on the United States by the Barbary powers, these ships were to ‘protect our commerce and chastise their insolence—by sinking, burning or destroying their ships and vessels wherever you shall find them

Quite possible in Lee's case. Not as likely in Paul's.

That is not a statement anyone who has even the vaguest clue where Rand comes from can make.

“No, if two Republican Senators felt like it was crappy enough to say something, the others are cowards and just sit there and accept it in silence.”

Many of the others are bought off by various financial interests. Lindsay Graham never saw military action he wasn’t enthusiastic about...fought against Trump’s proposed Syria and Afgh withdrawals, can’t be trusted on guns or borders, etc.

Why can’t the President find any non-neocon people for key positions? Disappointing but not surprising

A lifetime ban on lobbying after your term in office is up sounds great. Unfortunately there are many large corporations with deep pockets who would oppose this and they are firmly entrenched in the Swamp.

Yep, they could have taken their complaints directly to Trump and Trump could have given them his personal reply.
Instead their go on TV and air their BS publicly looking for great media coverage. Well I guess they think they will be around longer than Trump but hopefully the voters will put their reelections to bed.

Great article. Thanks. I like how they got after Beto for their fellow citizens after he happily wiped his rear with our Bill of Rights. They have rights and here’s our bill...

DC is a Divide & Control POWER CENTER.

535+ vs. 330 million. How do you CONTROL that?

Well, it took a lot of work to get his curly hairdo just right like that, so Randover wanted to make sure he could show that off properly on all those treasonous cable networks, so that's why he complained about it publicly, rather than just take his concerns directly, face-to-face, to President Trump.

I know exactly where Rand comes from AND I personally witnessed the DC swamp in operation for a decade.

They could not be more different things.

disagree- something has happened to lee- and rand has always been anti-war and opposed to action- so his opposition isn’t surprising=- just wrong- Lee was trying to make the case that they were entitled to learn the secret parts since they were congress, and since they were supposedly in a secure room- Yet we know for a fact that stuff is getting leaked when secrets are discussed- and lee is wrong- congress only has to be given all the details when a president wants to declare war- which this was not the case- the president has sole discretion to protect against terrorism without actually declaring war- and congress isn’t entitled to know every reason why- Mike lee knows full well that there are forces hell bent on destroying this president, and that secret info would get leaked-

Those who approved of the meeting knew this also and were fine with not knowing every last detail
